New Storyline from Virtua Fighter at Tokyo Game Show 2025

Get ready for an exciting new release from the vertical scroll entertainment label, ZETooN! Announced during this year’s Tokyo Game Show, a fresh narrative inspired by the popular fighting game series, Virtua Fighter, is set to launch. Co-created by SEGA, its parent company, Sega Sammy Holdings, and Papyrus, ZETooN is dedicated to delivering vibrant, full-color entertainment crafted for fans of anime and gaming.

The upcoming story, titled "14-Year-Old Summer, Sent Back to 1995, Tears at the Game Center – Virtua Fighter Sisters (Tentative)," revolves around the adventures of three sisters, Rena, Sayaka, and Liz. They journey back to 1995—an era remembered for its groundbreaking arcade experiences—and weave tales through the lens of Virtua Fighter. This new project promises to engage fans not just with nostalgia but also with modern storytelling.

Production Team

The narrative is the brainchild of the talented ZETooN studio, with character design by Hiroko Hirayama, known for her work on acclaimed anime series such as "Oshi no Ko" and "Kanojo, Okarishimasu." The script is penned by Yoshiko Tomita, who has also contributed to shows like "Nigejo's Young Lord" and "High Score Girl." With a robust team of skilled creators on board, this project is poised to deliver exceptional content to both fans of the original series and newcomers alike.
