Mila-bo Launches Digital Coupon Service for Single-Parent Families in Minato Ward, Tokyo

Mila-bo Launches Groundbreaking Service in Tokyo

In a remarkable development for family support services, Mila-bo, a Tokyo-based startup specializing in municipal services, has announced the launch of a digital coupon system designed specifically for single-parent households. Starting from June 1, 2026, residents of Minato Ward will be able to utilize Mila-bo's “mila-e Coupon” and “mila-e Application” to access home help services conveniently and efficiently.

Addressing the Needs of Single-Parent Families

The initiative addresses significant challenges faced by single-parent households with children in the sixth grade or younger. Currently, these families have access to home helpers for household chores and babysitting, but the process was hampered by cumbersome paperwork. Previously, applicants were required to submit a physical approval notice alongside paper coupons, leading to difficulties in managing and storing these documents. Additionally, municipal staff often faced delays in tracking service usage statistics.

Streamlining Service Access with Technology

With the introduction of the digital coupon service, users will receive a digital coupon with a unique identifier, which they can manage online. On the day of service, recipients will simply scan a QR code from their smartphones to access the services, thereby greatly enhancing convenience. Simultaneously, municipal staff will be able to view real-time usage data categorized by user and service provider, improving operational efficiency and enhancing resident services.

Broader Implications for Local Governance

It not only aids in modernizing public service delivery but also highlights the critical role of digital solutions in addressing societal challenges. As communities increasingly turn towards technology, Mila-bo’s model could pave the way for similar initiatives across various municipalities, emphasizing the importance of innovation in public welfare services.
