SenesTech Announces Leadership Transition
In a significant development,
SenesTech, Inc., a leader in innovative fertility control solutions for managing rodent populations, has officially declared that its current President and CEO,
Joel Fruendt, plans to retire. This announcement is aimed at informing stakeholders as the Board of Directors prepares to search for a new leader to take the helm of the company. Fruendt will remain in his position until the search is concluded or until June 30, 2026, whichever comes first.
Fruendt has been instrumental in the company since he joined in 2022, steering the development and launching of
Evolve®, a new product that has made significant inroads across various retail and professional sectors. Evolve® is a breakthrough in rodent fertility control and has revolutionized pest management strategies, establishing a more humane approach to dealing with rodent populations.
To facilitate this transition and to ensure effective governance during this period,
Dr. Jamie Bechtel, who is currently the Chair of the Board, has been appointed as the
Interim Executive Chair. In this new role, Dr. Bechtel will collaborate closely with the company's management to maintain strategic alignment, oversee execution, and ensure robust communication between the Board and the executive team.
“
Joel has played a pivotal role in positioning SenesTech for future growth, particularly through the successful launch of Evolve® and our focused efforts on operational execution,” stated Dr. Bechtel. She expressed gratitude for Fruendt's dedicated leadership and his commitment to the company's mission of developing humane solutions for pest management. Fruendt responded with appreciation during his tenure, saying, “
Leading the SenesTech team through this important chapter has been a privilege. I am proud of our progress in expanding access to our sustainable solutions. As I move toward retirement, I remain committed to facilitating a smooth transition.”
Acknowledging the strength of the management team, Dr. Bechtel emphasized that there is confidence in an orderly transition, with
Interim COO Michael Edell and
CFO Tom Chesterman continuing to lead the daily operations.
The Board has recognized the importance of carrying out a comprehensive search for Fruendt's successor and has engaged an executive search firm to assist in this critical process.
