On April 12, 2026, the highly anticipated Catan Japan Championship officially commenced, organized by GP Inc., based in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The first regional event, held in the Chubu area, attracted 141 participants, surpassing last year's record of 139 players. Notably, this is the third consecutive year with a remarkable 30% participation rate from newcomers, signaling the growing popularity of board games across Japan.

The Catan Japan Championship has consistently shown a strong trend in attracting new players. Statistics reveal a staggering increase in first-time participants: 44% in 2024, 40% in 2025, and 36% in 2026. These figures showcase the continuous rise of Catan enthusiasts and board game lovers in the country.
