ROOKIE’s Preliminary Survey for Skill Assessment Tool
In an effort to enhance the skill assessment framework, ROOKIE Corporation has implemented a preliminary survey involving approximately 130 employees from major corporations. The survey, conducted from April 23 to May 14, 2025, aimed to address the growing concerns regarding skill perception among these professionals and to lay the groundwork for a comprehensive skill assessment tool.
Background and Objectives
While managing the team-based side business platform ‘X JOB’, ROOKIE identified that a significant number of employees from large companies were experiencing underlying uncertainties about their skills. This prompted the company to explore creating a skill assessment tool that would facilitate the visibility of personal growth and the understanding of current capabilities. The findings from this preliminary research will serve as a foundation for the main development of the tool.
Survey Overview
- - Target Audience: Employees from major corporations, with about 60% working in companies having over 5,000 employees, including Toyota, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance, Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support, Honda Motor Co., and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.
- - Methodology: Internet survey conducted by ROOKIE.
- - Period: April 23 - May 14, 2025.
- - Responses: Valid responses obtained from 126 individuals.
Key Findings
1.
Business Fundamental Strength (Attitude): Across all age groups and positions, there is a notably high desire for growth. However, as employees reach their 30s and transition into mid-management roles, there is a marked decline in scores linked to goal attainment, the sense of growth, and job appreciation.
2.
Business Fundamental Strength (Skills): The survey also indicated that employees in their 20s and 30s showed lower scores in ‘creativity’, pointing towards a specific need for improvement in this area.
ROOKIE’s Insights and Future Directions
The research clearly illustrates that while corporate employees exhibit a high desire for growth throughout their career stages, there is a noticeable slowdown in the perception of growth as they enter their 30s. Many individuals are seen to struggle with a dichotomy between their aspirations for growth and the stagnation they experience in their daily work routines, particularly after adapting to their roles and the corresponding work environment.
Moreover, mid-level management (such as team leaders and managers) has shown declining enthusiasm regarding their contributions to the organization, coupled with diminished personal growth realization and self-esteem. This indicates a significant challenge faced by individuals caught in the middle of management hierarchies.
To address these challenges, ROOKIE has continued its mission to foster cross-border experiences for corporate employees by refining the support offered through ‘X JOB’. In a significant development, they are launching a new community specifically designed for corporate employees—the ‘X Community’. This initiative aims to create a
