From Construction Worker to Idol: Chihiro Sena Takes the TGC Stage

The Unique Journey of Chihiro Sena: From Construction to TGC

Chihiro Sena, a former construction worker and current self-produced idol, is set to make her debut at the prestigious Tokyo Girls Collection (TGC) 2026. Scheduled for March 14, 2026, at the National Yoyogi Stadium, this event marks a significant milestone in her extraordinary journey.

A Career Change Inspired by Self-Discovery

After graduating from Nihon University College of Arts, she followed her parents' wishes for stability and took a position at a major construction company. Wearing a hard hat and navigating a male-dominated environment brought her neither joy nor fulfillment. Despite earning a starting salary of 240,000 yen and later over 300,000 yen with overtime, she felt trapped in a corporate machine, leaving little time to enjoy the lifestyle her salary allowed. "I wanted to live life on my own terms," she recalls.

As she reflected on her future, which could encompass over 40 years of working life, she realized the significance of choosing a career that resonates with her passions. Determined to carve out her own path, she embraced the idea of 'career autonomy,' seeking a work-life balance that would provide personal satisfaction.

The Competitive World of TGC

Transitioning from the construction industry, Chihiro joined a talent agency to pursue her dream as a group idol, aiming for the Nippon Budokan stage. Eventually choosing to go solo, she set her sights on TGC, a platform renowned for showcasing talent. Chihiro states that the probability of someone making it onto the TGC stage is roughly 0.1%. She believes that being part of this event, viewed by around 30,000 attendees and millions online, would not only elevate her career but also serve as an inspiration for Z-generation youth, proving it’s never too late to follow one’s dreams.

Creating Unique Music

Chihiro's experience as a former construction worker has enhanced her self-producing abilities. Now handling all aspects of her career, from songwriting to community engagement, she has gained recognition for her creativity. In early 2026, she plans to release a mini-album entitled “Love Through Straw”, which features three love songs centered around drinks. One of the songs, “Tapioca Love Alert,” cleverly discusses the cultural significance of tapioca in Japan, blending her unique perspective on market trends with her passion for music.

A Call to Authenticity and Growth

As Chihiro prepares for TGC, she emphasizes that standing on the stage is merely the start of her journey, not the end goal. "My work is to use my music to enlighten others," she says. Moving from a stable career to pursuing her passion has transformed her perspective on life, granting her newfound respect for all professions and societal contributions.

Chihiro aims to shine brightly at TGC while setting an example for others navigating similar transitions. She encourages those who might feel trapped in conventional roles to chase their dreams and explore various creative professions. With immense pride in her journey, she desires to evolve into a person who stands shoulder to shoulder with others making significant contributions to society.
