On June 20, 2025, Hong Kong hosted the International Sports Industry Salon themed "Global Connectivity • Industrial Interaction", organized by the NBD Think Tank Hong Kong Center in collaboration with the Chengdu Sports Association, Hong Kong Commercial Daily, and COJOY. This noteworthy event attracted over 50 participants, including business leaders, sports industry experts, and innovators from both Hong Kong and Chengdu. The discussions largely centered on the role of the sports industry in urban development and strengthening inter-regional cooperation.

Darren Burden, the Chief Operating Officer of Kai Tak Sports Park, presented the design philosophy and operational model of the Kai Tak Sports Park, which is Hong Kong's largest sports infrastructure undertaking to date. He emphasized that the Kai Tak Sports Park is not just the main venue for the upcoming 15th National Games of the People's Republic of China but is quickly emerging as a new landmark for sports and entertainment in Hong Kong.

Ismael Martinez Merchan, a senior partner and architect at Populous, a prestigious firm specializing in sports facility design, shared the firm's insights on sports venue design worldwide. He illustrated how the design of the Kai Tak Sports Park integrates local cultural elements into an international perspective, paving the way for a unique sporting experience.

With the Chengdu World Games 2025 scheduled to take place in August, the salon featured a special promotional segment focusing on the games. An official partner of the event, Geely Holding Group, contributed to the dialogue by discussing how large-scale sporting events can enhance a city's brand identity. The Branding Strategy Department head noted, "The World Games are not just a platform for sporting competition; they are also an opportunity to showcase the cultural and innovative potential of the city."

Representatives from the well-known AG E-sports Club in Chengdu and Chengdu Happy Sports Development Group showcased their recent business initiatives and achievements, highlighting the rapid evolution of the industry.

During the panel discussion, experts pondered ways to enhance the city’s recognition and influence through international sports events. There was a unanimous agreement that the sports industry is becoming a significant driver of economic, cultural, and social development for cities. The successful execution of the Sports Industry Salon marked the conclusion of the International Series of Salons, and the organizer expressed enthusiasm for continuing high-level dialogues in the future to promote exchanges between Chengdu and the global community across various industrial sectors.
