On July 4, 2025, the historic Teatro Romano di Fiesole in Italy hosted the 29th Fair Play Menarini International Award ceremony, where the worlds of culture and sports intertwined to honor the most exemplary figures in athletics. This prestigious event celebrated athletes for their unwavering commitment to sportsmanship, loyalty, and integrity both on and off the field.

Recognizing Sporting Legends

Among the notable athletes recognized this year was football icon Luis Figo, a former Ballon d'Or winner and influential player for Real Madrid and Inter Milan. His charismatic presence and unparalleled skill have left an indelible mark on the sport. Other laureates included Demetrio Albertini, a midfield maestro and role model for football fans, and Alessandro Costacurta, a legendary AC Milan defender renowned for his dedication and competitive spirit.

Rising Stars and Inspirational Athletes

The award also honored Gianmarco Tamberi, the Olympic and World champion in high jump, who represented Italy as the flag bearer at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Tamberi is celebrated not only for his athletic prowess but also for his ability to transform competitions into vibrant celebrations of sportsmanship. He shared the spotlight with Arianna Errigo, a legend in fencing whose lifelong dedication has made her a symbol of perseverance.

Further recognition went to Sasha Vujacic, a two-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, admired for his competitive nature and respect for the game. Other celebrated figures included Blanka Vlasic, a two-time world champion in high jump; Alice Bellandi, an Olympic gold medallist and newly crowned world champion in judo; and Nadia Battocletti, who clinched silver in the 10,000 meters at the Olympics.
