POLA Medical Launches 'Kaokara' at GDO Chigasaki Golf Links
In an innovative move to improve health and safety in outdoor sports, POLA Medical, a subsidiary of the POLA Orbis Group, has partnered with Golf Digest Online (GDO) to introduce their heat management AI camera named 'Kaokara'. This development marks the first time the camera has been installed at a golf course, specifically at the GDO Chigasaki Golf Links located in Kanagawa, Japan, starting July 1. The initiative aims to promote safety and comfort for golfers facing high temperatures during summer.
The Vision Behind 'Kaokara'
The introduction of 'Kaokara' aligns with POLA Orbis Group's aim to enhance well-being for both individuals and society. The company views the face as a mirror reflecting physical and psychological conditions; hence, this technology allows users to position their faces in front of the camera to monitor their health. Following successful testing, the company plans to initiate orders for this innovative product from March 2024, and they have already garnered interest from various sectors, including construction and manufacturing.
GDO Chigasaki Golf Links: A Unique Venue
GDO Chigasaki Golf Links boasts an idyllic location by the seaside, making it popular among players throughout the year. The golf course features nine holes with a par of 35, providing a fresh seaside breeze and scenic views of Mt. Fuji. It caters to golfers of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced players, enhancing the overall golfing experience.
Camera Installation Targets
Three primary objectives drive the placement of 'Kaokara' at the golf course in areas like the front desk and rest spots:
1. To introduce face analysis AI technology in the realm of sports for the first time.
2. To assess the effectiveness of this innovative method for combating summer heat at golf courses.
3. To evaluate whether it raises safety awareness among golfers by enabling easy self-checks of their health.
In addition to the AI camera, the golf course will provide ice packs and oral rehydration solutions at the entrance to ensure that players can enjoy their game in a safe environment. Testing is currently scheduled to run from July 1 through the end of October.
Understanding 'Kaokara' AI Camera Features
The 'Kaokara' camera is a tablet-type AI device that detects facial information when users present their faces in front of it. It provides feedback through color coding based on assessment results, thereby assisting users in health management. Some prominent features include:
1.
AI-Powered Analysis: Trained AI evaluates facial color, expression, and perspiration, integrating external data like temperature and humidity to help users be mindful of their physical condition.
2.
User-Friendly Operation: The installation allows for easy and quick usage. Following activation, the assessment time is approximately three seconds. Feedback via a four-tier color system makes it intuitive for users.
3.
Centralized Management: Results from the camera are collected and can be reviewed by administrators via computers, enabling a focused response to participants flagged with a red light status, thereby fostering effective safety measures.
Note: This device is not a medical device and is not intended for the treatment, diagnosis, or prevention of heatstroke.
