BE OPEN Regional Art Celebrates Fourth Year Supporting Emerging Artists in Northeastern Africa

BE OPEN Regional Art Enters Year Four

The BE OPEN Regional Art initiative, an online gallery founded by the humanitarian think-tank BE OPEN led by Elena Baturina, is set to kick off its fourth year in 2026. This initiative is dedicated to uplifting emerging artists from Northeastern Africa, showcasing their unique cultural, ethnic, and regional identities through a competitive platform.

In a bid to connect brilliant talents, BE OPEN Art continues the tradition of identifying artists who epitomize the artistic heritage of their respective regions. Each month, 20 emerging talents are featured in the BE OPEN gallery, where public voting is employed to designate the regional artist of the month. The most favored artist receives a title of distinction as the regional artist and is awarded a grant that reflects the level of support they have garnered from the community.

The competitive series runs from January to April 2026 and will shine a spotlight on artistic expressions from a diverse range of countries, including Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Egypt, and Madagascar. The structure for 2026 extends each regional competition to a four-month duration, concluding with the announcement of a winner who will receive a prize of 500 euros at the end of the fourth month. Additionally, a founder's favorite will be granted 300 euros as further encouragement.

Elena Baturina emphasizes the significance of these regional contests in fostering the growth of young artists, stating, "Regional competitions allow us to support more youths. We hope these additional resources assist them in pursuing successful careers in the arts."

The regional competitions operate concurrently with BE OPEN Art’s standard operations, where expert curators select 20 fresh talents each month, utilizing online voting to determine the artist of the month and the artist of the year. The organization is committed to nurturing emerging talent that focuses on social consciousness and provides aesthetic solutions to contemporary social issues. The overarching mission is to discover new influencers in the art world while inviting contributions from the public.

As a global initiative aimed at stimulating creativity and fostering innovation, BE OPEN is dedicated to advocating for contemporary individuals and ideas to architect the solutions of tomorrow. Supported by Baturina, an international philanthropist and businesswoman based in Austria, this project embodies a cultural and social commitment to nurturing the arts.

For art enthusiasts and supporters, this ongoing project represents an excellent opportunity to engage with up-and-coming artists while celebrating the rich tapestry of Northeastern African culture through visual storytelling. Those interested can explore the innovative works presented monthly in the gallery, gaining insight into the vibrant art scene burgeoning in the region, all while contributing to the professional development of talented individuals carving their path in the art domain.
