Hiroshi Sugimoto, born in 1948, has made remarkable contributions to art with significant works like his Dioramic, Seascapes, and Theaters series. He established the Shin Material Research Institute in 2008 and the Odawara Cultural Foundation in 2009, with his notable architecture project, the Enoura Observatory, completed after a decade of planning. Sugimoto's ingenuity is on full display, bringing together different elements harmoniously in his works.

In addition to his exhibitions, Sugimoto's contributions have been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography in 2001 and the 2009 Takamatsu Prince Takamatsu Memorial World Culture Prize in the painting category. In 2017, he received the commendation for cultural merit, further solidifying his status as a luminary in the arts. His engagement in theater, highlighted by his direction of "At the Hawk's Well" at the Palais Garnier in Paris, showcases his versatility and commitment to the arts.
