Handy Career Guidance Room Opens Job Search Portal for High School Graduates
In March, Handy Corporation, which operates the Handy Career Guidance Room, officially launched a new job search platform, "High School Graduate Job Navi powered by Handy Career Guidance Room", allowing students to search for new graduate job information online without registration. This initiative aims to support the 70% of high school students wishing to enter the job market, as noted by data from Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
The site features job listings from proactive hiring companies such as Secom, Mazda, JFE Steel, and Tokyo Metro. This effort makes job information more accessible to high school students, allowing comprehensive career research and informed decision-making.
Background and Purpose of the Launch
Traditionally, high school job searches took place within a narrow window from July 1 onwards, limiting students to paper job listings provided by schools. Under such constraints, it was difficult for them to conduct thorough research and make informed choices. However, schools using the Handy Career Guidance Room system have already begun digitizing job postings, allowing students to access information and conduct early research on companies.
In February 2026, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare indicated in a meeting that the student and parent access to the national job database, known as “High School Graduate Job Information Service (High School Web)”, would be recognized. This will likely speed up the digital transition in high school job searches. In response to this trend, Handy Corporation has designed the job search site to include photos, videos, and interviews with seniors that supplement the textual data from the High School Web, thus facilitating deeper employer insights and career exploration for students prior to the job application period.
The Online Job Portal's Operating Policies
Handy Corporation adheres to regulations governing high school employment, providing a safe environment for schools, students, and companies alike. During the job research period from April to June, job listings will be unavailable as specific job conditions cannot be posted due to existing regulations. Instead, only promotional materials showcasing company culture and employee experiences will be shared, fostering early career understanding.
Starting July 1, job listings will begin to be published sequentially, but only publicly available positions can be viewed on the Job Navi site, excluding designated school jobs.
Applications will still go through the respective high schools to ensure traditional processes remain intact. The site is designed primarily for students to learn about companies, not to directly apply for jobs.
Advantages of the Job Search Portal
1.
Accessibility via Smartphone: Students can access company information anytime and anywhere, enabling family discussions about career choices without the constraints of physical job listings.
2.
Visual Insights into Company Culture: Videos and images help students visualize the workplace dynamics, reducing the chances of mismatch post-employment.
3.
Broader Search Criteria: Students can freely search for opportunities based on job roles and locations, transcending traditional limitations and fostering connections with suitable employers.
As Handy Corporation continues improving both the High School Graduate Job Navi and the Handy Career Guidance Room, the company remains committed to creating environments where high school students confidently take their first steps into the professional world. By harnessing technology alongside educators, they aim to empower students to make authentic career choices for their futures.
