The Bloc Expands Creative Leadership in Europe
The independent and award-winning network, The Bloc, is making significant strides in its European expansion strategy with the recent appointment of Jon Chapman as Executive Creative Director. This move aims to amplify the agency's creative competencies across its expanding network, which notably includes offices in London, Milan, Basel, and Munich, along with teams in the United States and Asia.
Chapman, a seasoned and multi-award-winning creative, arrives at The Bloc following leadership roles at renowned agencies such as Havas Lynx, BBDO, and BBH. His expertise comes at a pivotal moment for the industry, which is witnessing rapid evolution amid global challenges and exceptional communication opportunities in the healthcare sector. These attributes are crucial as the agency strives to make a meaningful impact for both clients and patients alike.
Stephanie Berman, Global Creative Director at The Bloc, highlighted Chapman’s fit for the role, stating, "Jon embodies the type of creative leader for which The Bloc was designed—bold, collaborative, and driven by the belief that exceptional work can lead to tangible positive impact. His appointment clearly signals our desired creative direction as a company, and I am genuinely excited to embark on this new chapter with him."
In his new role, Chapman will collaborate with Berman and Adam Hessel, the Creative Director based in New York, creating a dynamic creative leadership team at the heart of the agency’s global offerings. Working closely with The Bloc's European leadership team, which includes James March, Managing Director in London, and Alessandro Seveso, CEO in Milan and Basel, Chapman will be responsible for advancing the company's creative ambitions. His focus will be on engaging healthcare clients and patients in relevant, inspiring, and effective ways.
"The Bloc truly feels different," Chapman expressed. "Independent, attentive to others, and firmly convinced that creativity can solve any problem. The talent present in all of its offices, the accolades received, and its behaviorally grounded approach make it a company that is thriving on enlightened vision and a commitment to doing good. I had no hesitation in seizing this opportunity to be part of this project and to push the boundaries of creativity even further."
Chapman's appointment coincides with the hiring of two other significant roles in the London office. Ruarí Burgham has joined as Engagement Strategy Director while Ellen Bunker takes the position of Account Director, both of whom will enhance the agency's growing operations in London.
