Rivasta and Asuene Form Partnership to Enhance CO2 Management in Construction

Rivasta and Asuene Join Forces for Comprehensive CO2 Management in Construction

Rivasta Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Koto, Tokyo, CEO: Takumi Takahashi) and Asuene Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, CEO: Kohei Nishiwada) have officially announced their new partnership. This collaboration aims to bolster carbon-neutral initiatives within the construction industry, a sector highly scrutinized for its environmental footprint.

With this partnership, data collected from Rivasta's specialized CO2 emission calculation and visualization cloud service, TansoMiru, will be interconnected with Asuene's ASUENE platform. This integration allows for streamlined management of CO2 emissions not just at individual construction sites but across entire corporate groups, including international branches. Consequently, stakeholders will gain deeper insights into their carbon emissions through sophisticated dashboard analytics, promoting effective reduction strategies.

Background of the Partnership

As climate change becomes an urgent global issue prioritizing carbon neutrality, Japan has declared a commitment to achieve this goal by 2050. Framed within this declaration are initiatives led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) to promote a greener society. These include specific projects aimed at reducing CO2 emissions during construction processes, setting guidelines for emissions calculations, and facilitating trials using sustainable materials.

Construction companies are now increasingly evaluated on their ability to reduce carbon emissions during bidding and assessment phases, subsequently impacting their chances of being awarded contracts. Thus, the visibility and reduction of carbon emissions have emerged as critical challenges that the industry must confront.

Despite this awareness, companies still face significant burdens in gathering, analyzing, and compiling CO2 emission data from various projects, headquarters, and branches. These processes can be both labor-intensive and technically demanding, which adds considerable pressure on teams responsible for environmental management. With impending regulations limiting overtime work in the sector beginning April 2024, the need for more efficient CO2 management solutions is more pressing than ever.

Rivasta and Asuene had previously entered into a memorandum of understanding regarding their collaboration in September 2024, focusing on strategies to support carbon reduction initiatives. The recent formal agreement details the specific aspects of cloud service integration, paving the way for a robust strategic alliance.

Details of the Partnership

To standardize CO2 emissions management across construction sites, Rivasta, in collaboration with Taisei Corporation, launched a service to measure and manage emissions in December 2022. Based on extensive data accumulated from previous projects, Rivasta rolled out TansoMiru, a cloud service tailored for the construction industry, beginning in April 2024. This service offers three modules: TansoMiru Management, TansoMiru Waste, and TansoMiru Power.

Both TansoMiru Waste and TansoMiru Power automatically calculate CO2 emissions linked to waste management and energy usage, respectively. These modules are designed to work together within the TansoMiru Management platform, allowing for a consolidated view of emissions from specific projects, branches, and company-wide levels. As a result, construction firms can significantly reduce the administrative burden of emissions tracking and facilitate better decision-making.

On the other hand, Asuene offers a comprehensive cloud service named ASUENE, which provides visibility and reporting capabilities across all Scope 1-3 GHG emissions for various industries. Asuene specializes in consulting aimed at supporting companies in their decarbonization efforts through an array of integrated services.

Both companies will collaborate in the following key areas:

1. Cloud Data Integration: Rivasta's TansoMiru Management data will feed into the ASUENE platform for comprehensive analysis and insights, ultimately helping companies strategize on carbon emissions reduction.
2. Decarbonization Consulting: Should companies seek overarching consultation on emissions reductions or aim for international sustainability standards, Asuene will lead through the collaborative framework established with Rivasta.

Benefits of the Partnership

1. Enhanced Operational Efficiency: By consolidating power and emissions data, construction companies can significantly reduce the time and effort required for data management and compliance.
2. Improved Accuracy: Automating data collection minimizes manual entry errors and enhances the precision of CO2 calculations, allowing for reliable TCFD and CDP report submissions.
3. Accelerated Achievement of Environmental Goals: Visibility into emissions across numerous construction sites enables rapid identification of improvement actions, thus driving sustainable practices throughout the supply chain.

Companies’ Statements

Kohei Nishiwada, CEO of Asuene Co., Ltd.:

"The unique challenges of decarbonization in the construction industry, stemming from diverse site conditions and complex data management, necessitate innovative solutions. This partnership equips us to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs across the sector through effective data integration from Rivasta's platform."

Takumi Takahashi, CEO of Rivasta Co., Ltd.:

"We are thrilled to solidify our partnership with Asuene to enhance our support for carbon-neutral initiatives in the construction sector. Future Developments

As the partnership unfolds, both companies are committed to functional development aimed at integrating their services, with an expected launch timeline in autumn 2025. Moving forward, Rivasta plans to leverage Asuene's expertise to develop and deliver consulting services tailored for decarbonization within construction sites.

Together, Rivasta and Asuene are poised to significantly impact the decarbonization of the construction industry, propelling efforts toward a sustainable future.
