MWC25 Doha: Pioneering the Future of MENA's Digital Landscape



The inaugural GSMA MWC25 Doha, held in alliance with the Qatar Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), has made significant strides in showcasing the rising prominence of MENA in the global digital transformation arena. This event served as a compelling platform that gathered leading figures from governments, technology sectors, and industries worldwide, all focused on harnessing AI, 5G, and intelligent infrastructure to unlock an astounding $470 billion in economic value by the year 2030.

The event commenced under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. His Excellency officially inaugurated the event, welcomed by Vivek Badrinath and John Hoffman from GSMA on stage, underscoring the importance of this moment for the MENA region and the global connectivity community.

Across the Middle East and North Africa, governmental authorities and enterprises are committed to accelerating the transition to intelligent networks and next-generation digital services. The diverse sectors benefiting include healthcare, logistics, mobility, financial services, and enhanced customer experiences. At MWC Doha, participants engaged in expert-led sessions, summit discussions, and an energetic show floor that united regional and global leaders, emphasizing how technologies such as AI, cloud computing, satellite connectivity, and data-driven solutions are reshaping industries and driving economic transformation.

Vivek Badrinath, Director General of the GSMA, remarked on the historical significance of MWC Doha, stating, “This is a pivotal moment for MENA and the global connectivity community. There is extraordinary investment in networks, AI, and digital services. However, it’s crucial to ensure that large portions of the region that remain offline are prioritized for connectivity.” He emphasized that the discussions initiated in Doha could pave the way for future progress across varying geographies.
