Minnesota Founders Encourage Community Giving to Smithsonian Women's Museum with Matching Campaign

Minnesota Founders Launch Matching Campaign for Women’s History Museum

Two prominent business figures in Minnesota have taken a significant step to support the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum by initiating the Minnesota Challenge Campaign. This campaign aims to highlight women's contributions to history while also inspiring local residents to engage in a culture of philanthropy.

Campaign Details

Running from November 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, the campaign will match contributions from Minnesotans dollar for dollar, with a total matching amount of $50,000. If the community meets this cap, it will double the total funding to an impressive $100,000 for the museum.

Rachel Schromen, the Founder and Managing Attorney of Schromen Law, and Erin Pash, the CEO and Founder of Pash Co and Ellie Mental Health, both pledged $50,000 to kick off this unique initiative. They believe that this is a significant opportunity for community members to enhance the visibility and acknowledgment of women's roles in shaping American history.

The Purpose Behind the Campaign

Schromen emphasized the importance of collective effort, stating, "Women have always built things by pulling their communities together, and that is exactly what this campaign asks Minnesotans to do. Our gifts open the door, but the match only reaches its full size if our neighbors walk through it with us." This sentiment is a call to action, urging the community to step forward and support women who made pivotal contributions to various sectors.

Pash echoed these sentiments, recalling how both founders started from humble beginnings and the importance of support in those formative stages. She noted, "The women who shaped this country deserve a visible place in the national record, and Minnesota can help make that record more complete."

A Legacy of Empowerment

This challenge not only seeks financial support but also aims to stimulate a broader conversation about the necessity of recognizing the experiences, accomplishments, and contributions of women throughout American history. As part of a long-standing tradition, this initiative reinforces the idea of women organizing and mobilizing their communities for shared goals.

How to Participate

Participation in the Minnesota Challenge Campaign is open to all residents of Minnesota. Donations made during the campaign will be eligible for the match until the $50,000 cap is reached. Early contributions are encouraged, as they ensure that the impact of every dollar is maximized. To contribute, interested donors can visit the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum’s donation page at womenshistory.si.edu.

Highlighting Minnesota's Role

Additionally, the campaign represents Minnesota’s involvement in the Making History Network, the museum's ambassador program that supports outreach and fundraising initiatives. Texas boasts a dedicated chapter of ambassadors committed to strengthening the museum’s presence in local communities and fostering connections.

Interviews Available

Both Rachel Schromen and Erin Pash are available for interviews to discuss their motivations for this partnership, the mission of the museum, and how residents of Minnesota can participate in this campaign. Those interested can reach out to arrange discussions through press channels.

The Minnesota Challenge Campaign is more than just a fundraising effort; it’s a call for community unity in recognizing and celebrating the integral roles women have played in shaping our history. By coming together, Minnesotans can help ensure their stories are told and honored in the national narrative.
