The Inaugural Meeting of the Smart Building Co-Creation Organization
On June 4, the Smart Building Co-Creation Organization (SBCC), led by Executive Director Shinji Takeda, convened its inaugural general meeting at the Toranomon Hills Forum in Tokyo. The meeting was held in a hybrid format, attracting approximately 170 in-person attendees and around 70 online participants, resulting in a total of 240 attendees from various member companies and organizations—making it a significant gathering for the newly established body.
Founded on April 2, 2025, by a group of initiators, the SBCC has since been actively recruiting members. As of May 26, 2025, the organization comprises 105 member entities, including 12 founding committee members, 6 newly added executive committee members, 53 regular members, 14 secondary members, and 20 supporting organizations. These members represent a diverse range of industries, including construction, real estate, manufacturing, ICT, facility management, services, educational institutions, and public entities.
During the inaugural meeting, the organization appointed 11 initial directors along with 3 advisory directors from Osaka Public University, the University of Tokyo, and the Independent Administrative Institution Information-Technology Promotion Agency. Following the appointments, the second part of the meeting featured reports on the business and budget plans, which set the stage for six working groups that will form the core of the SBCC's future activities. The session saw robust discussions and exchanges of ideas among member companies.
After the formal proceedings, a networking event allowed participants to foster relationships and share valuable information across different industries and sectors.
Looking forward, the SBCC aims to collaborate with member companies to tackle social challenges through co-creation involving academia, industry, and government. Utilizing digital technologies and data, the organization seeks to promote the adoption of smart buildings, providing new values to society and contributing to the creation of a human-centered, sustainable future.
Since June 1, the SBCC has launched its official website (https://www.sbco.or.jp/), where further information can be accessed. For membership inquiries and other questions, please reach out to the following contact:
