The 7th China International Import Expo Recap
On November 10, the 7th edition of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) concluded successfully in Shanghai, marking a significant milestone in promoting global trade and cooperation. This year's event showcased not only tangible products but also fostered numerous intangible connections among participants worldwide. Initial figures indicate that pre-deal transactions reached a remarkable value of $80.01 billion, reflecting a 2% increase from the previous year, underscoring the Expo's growing importance in the international market.
A Global Affair with Diverse Participation
The CIIE served as a vital platform for global cooperation and welcomed 77 countries and international organizations from five continents. The event featured a wide array of unique cultures and national identities, represented in over 200 captivating activities that took place at various booths. The exhibition attracted 3,496 companies from 129 countries and regions, including 1,585 companies from 104 nations under the Belt and Road Initiative, 1,106 companies from 13 countries involved in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, and 132 exhibitors from 35 least developed countries.
Innovation and New Product Launches
Innovation continued to be a hallmark of the CIIE, with the Expo showcasing 360 innovative projects from 34 countries aimed at supporting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups. Additionally, multinational corporations unveiled 450 new products, services, and technologies during the event. This included over 100 global market launches, 40 Asian debuts, and more than 200 introductions exclusive to China, stimulating new consumer demand and market trends.
Dialogues for International Cooperation
The Hongqiao International Economic Forum (HQF) emerged as a critical gathering for global dialogue at the CIIE, attracting more than 8,600 registrations this year. Over 300 esteemed experts and leaders in politics, business, and academia contributed to the discussions. At this year's HQF, a global openness index and the 2024 Global Openness Report were announced, encapsulating messages of openness and collaboration, thus promoting international partnerships.
