Celebrating 300 Grants in Podcasting
LWC Studios proudly announced that its Podcasting, Seriously Awards Fund has reached a significant milestone by awarding its 300th grant since its inception in 2021. This accomplishment not only highlights the fund's dedication to supporting diverse podcast creators but also emphasizes the importance of inclusivity in the podcasting industry.
A Boost for Diverse Voices
The grants have enabled recipients to submit their works to prestigious award ceremonies including The Ambies, Webby Awards, International Women's Podcast Awards, Tribeca Film Festival, and several others. These opportunities empower creators, particularly those from BIPOC, Queer, and Trans communities, by providing them the necessary resources to showcase their talents on renowned platforms.
LWC Studios operates this fund pro bono, covering application fees for independent producers, editors, and similar roles, with a reimbursement cap of $200 per calendar year for each creator. Furthermore, the fund allocates up to $500 annually for training in digital audio production, allowing creators to refine their skills and expand their careers.
Welcoming New Total Partner: Sequel
In a significant development, LWC Studios has welcomed Sequel, a Canadian creative agency, as a new partner of The Podcasting, Seriously Awards Fund. This collaboration aims to further strengthen the support provided to independent and aspiring producers. Tori Allen, co-founder of Sequel, expressed her commitment to uplifting new voices in the podcasting landscape, emphasizing the importance of mentorship and inclusivity.
Allen stated, "Throughout my career, I have had mentors who made space for my voice as a woman of color and an ally to Queer and Trans communities. That support has been transformative. It is one of the main reasons I founded Sequel—to help new voices break through and thrive, especially in Canada. Partnering with The Podcasting, Seriously Awards Fund is a meaningful way to celebrate Sequel's first year and reflects the podcasting industry we want to help build: inclusive and full of possibilities."
Impact of the Fund
Juleyka Lantigua, founder and CEO of LWC Studios, also commented on the partnership, highlighting Sequel's alignment with the fund's values of creativity and inclusion. Lantigua remarked that Sequel serves as an ideal partner since both entities share the commitment to elevating others while nurturing their growth.
The fund remains open for reimbursement applications throughout the year, with eligible independent producers based in Canada, the UK, the US, or Australia encouraged to apply. The partnership with Sequel not only broadens the fund's reach but also enriches the community of podcast creators striving for recognition and success.
