Tramworks is already well-known for its development and sale of the tram simulation game, “TRAMCITY HAKODATE,” which allows players to drive actual tram vehicles from the city of Hakodate. The challenge lay in replicating the authentic driving experience where players can feel the distinct operational differences among various tram types. As highlighted earlier, Tramworks aims to provide game enthusiasts the ability to control the Hakodate trams in “TRAMCITY HAKODATE.” Attendees at the Tokyo Game Show will have the opportunity to actually pilot various tram models through the Tram Controller, featuring both the 8000 and 3000 series trams. The 8000 series has a throttle with seven notches alongside a direct air brake system, while the 3000 series comes equipped with a four-notch throttle and an electric command brake.
2. Force Feedback from Game Vehicle's Brake Pressure
For players using the 8000 series controller, the throttle features three positions: release, maintain, and apply. In actual trams, crossing these boundaries generates distinct tactile feedback. The Tram Controller replicates this sensation electronically, reflecting the game's brake cylinder air pressure directly to the user's hands through force feedback control. The electric command brake for the 3000 series also provides tactile feedback through notches which create a satisfying ‘click’ sensation with each adjustment.
3. Authentic Door Switch
To elevate realism, the Tram Controller incorporates genuine door switches taken from actual tram vehicles. This detail has been made possible through an agreement with a door switch manufacturer to supply new units, making the driving experience more lifelike and engaging.

Recognizing this, Tramworks has implemented an analog meter unit in the Tram Controller, featuring a moving needle for both the speedometer and the brake cylinder pressure gauge.
