Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Exciting Startup Events in Shikoku

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: An Exciting Initiative in Shikoku

Starting on October 11, 2025, ATOMica, a startup company specializing in social coworking, will host a series of events aimed at promoting female entrepreneurship in Ehime Prefecture. This initiative, commissioned by the Ehime Prefectural Government, aims to support diverse career pathways for women in the region. The program includes the "Ehime WOMAN Entrepreneurship Event 2025" which consists of five exciting sessions and a single in-depth workshop called the "Ehime WOMAN Entrepreneurship Program 2025."

Background of the Initiative

As the world witnesses a shift in women’s work styles, entrepreneurship has increasingly emerged as a viable career option for women. According to a report by the Japan Finance Corporation, the percentage of women among new entrepreneurs has steadily risen, hitting a record 25.5% in 2024. However, women still remain a minority in the entrepreneurial landscape. Data from Ehime Prefecture reveals that out of 50,400 entrepreneurs, only 10,500, or 20.8%, are women.

The challenges of balancing family responsibilities, childcare, and lack of peer support are significant for women considering entrepreneurship. To address these issues, the Ehime government, with the help of ATOMica, is organizing a series of events and programs designed to connect aspiring female entrepreneurs with role models and empower them through shared experiences.

About the Events

The "Ehime WOMAN Entrepreneurship Event 2025" will feature two notable entrepreneurs from Tokyo and three from Shikoku. Each event will be structured into a talk session followed by group work, under the guidance of Aoi Higaki, a facilitator from ATOMica's Mama Oasis division.
