Collaboration Between Surugadai University and Fintech Global Corp. for Promoting Hannō's Metta Village

Collaboration Between Surugadai University and Fintech Global Corp.

In an inspiring initiative aimed at regional revitalization, Surugadai University, under the leadership of President Kazuhiro Omori, has teamed up with Fintech Global Corp., led by President Nobumitsu Tamai. This collaboration, rooted in a basic agreement established in December 2016, will focus on producing promotional videos for Metta Village, a Scandinavian lifestyle experience facility located in Hannō City. The joint research contract was officially signed on May 21, 2025.

The project, titled "The Story of Metta Hannō Through Student Perspectives," emphasizes the rich culture, nature, and history of Hannō City. By harnessing video as a powerful medium, the objective is to showcase the unique attractions of the area and enhance its appeal. Students will deepen their connections with the local community, gain practical skills, and contribute to increasing tourism and boosting the local economy in Hannō City.

Purpose of the Joint Research

This research aims to leverage the compelling medium of video to highlight Hannō City's distinctive charm—ranging from its rich history and culture to its local cuisine and natural beauty. Through fieldwork and literature reviews, the project seeks to uncover and present the diverse attractions of both Metta Village and the surrounding area.

To maximize the appeal of the Metta Village and the region, various visual storytelling techniques will be explored, including documentaries, dramas, and animations. Additionally, the research team will investigate effective methods for disseminating information through social media and video streaming platforms.

Research Personnel: Professor Kazuhiko Saiga and Assistant Professor Masahiro Takada from Surugadai University's Media Information Department.
Project Duration: April 1, 2025 - March 31, 2026.
Location: Centered around Hannō City and nearby regions.

Upcoming Plans

The project will involve forming two student production teams, each tasked with creating short films that emphasize storytelling or visually striking content suitable for social media. A mid-term presentation is set for the Surugadai University Shunki Festival in October 2025, followed by a report meeting on the research results in March 2026.

Collaboration extends to various stakeholders, including the City of Hannō, the Hannō Chamber of Commerce, the Okumusashi Hannō Tourism Association, and Seibu Railway Co., Ltd. The initiative is also supported by Saitama Risona Bank and Hannō Shinkin Bank, focusing on creating local attractions and disseminating information about the produced video content.
