Arevon Energy Signs Major Renewable Energy Contracts for Illinois Solar Project

Arevon Energy Secures Long-Term Renewable Contracts

Arevon Energy, Inc., a prominent player in the American energy sector, has made a significant stride by securing three 20-year Indexed Renewable Energy Credit (REC) contracts as part of its Panther Energy Project in Perry County, Illinois. With a capacity of 200 megawatts (MWac) and 275 megawatts (MWdc), the project is set to bolster the local economy while supporting Illinois' energy goals.

The contracts were signed with major utilities: Ameren Illinois, Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), and MidAmerican Energy. These agreements advance the development of the Panther Energy Project, which is anticipated to kick off construction in 2027 and reach completion in 2028. This initiative is expected to create approximately 200 jobs during its construction phase and generate around $20 million in property tax contributions throughout its operational lifetime, benefitting local schools and infrastructure.

Once operational, the Panther Energy Project is predicted to produce sufficient electricity to power over 37,000 homes across Illinois. This noteworthy development reflects Arevon's commitment to renewable energy and community engagement, as evidenced by the establishment of a local office in Pinckneyville. This office will serve as a direct point of contact for landowners and residents during the project's ongoing development phase.

In recent achievements, the Panther Energy Project was selected during the Illinois Power Agency's (IPA) Summer 2026 Indexed REC procurement, receiving validation from the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC). Arevon will deliver a total of 421,131 RECs in its first operational year, distributed among the three utilities through individual long-term contracts. The Indexed REC model not only ensures revenue stability for renewable projects but also aids the utilities in meeting their obligations under the Illinois Renewable Portfolio Standard.

The procurement process was conducted in accordance with the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), a law established in 2021 that introduced the Indexed REC pricing framework aimed at enhancing utility-scale renewable energy initiatives. In total, the ICC approved contracts for a remarkable 1.55 gigawatts of new renewable energy capacity, including various large-scale solar projects.

Tommy Greer, Chief Commercial Officer at Arevon, expressed pride in partnering with major utilities to advance the Panther Energy Project towards construction. He emphasized the added value derived from community collaboration and the role the project plays in delivering reliable, locally sourced energy to the grid while creating job opportunities and boosting the local economy.

Arevon is dedicated to expanding its footprint in the Midwest, focusing on the operations, construction, and ongoing development of energy facilities. Notable projects include the recently operational 430 MWdc Kelso Solar Project in Missouri and the Ratts 1 and Heirloom Solar Projects in Indiana, collectively boasting a capacity of 264 MWdc. These ventures underscore Arevon's commitment to promoting renewable energy solutions and its status as a reliable partner, enhancing energy independence and supporting local economies.

The company's headquarters are located in Scottsdale, Arizona, with an additional regional office in New York City. Arevon's expertise lies in the renewable energy sector, especially in utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, assisting utilities and businesses in achieving sustainable energy objectives. The company currently operates more than 6.3 gigawatts of solar and energy storage installations across 18 states and is actively involved in constructing an additional 370 megawatts of new capacity.

In conclusion, Arevon's Panther Energy Project marks a significant advancement in Illinois's renewable energy landscape, reflecting the company's dedication to sustainability and community engagement. By ensuring long-term energy solutions and economic benefits for local communities, Arevon continues to lead the way in the energy transition towards cleaner, more sustainable power sources. The future looks bright for both Arevon and the Illinois community as they embark on this journey together.
