Japan Airlines Launches Exciting Winter Internship Program

Starting September 29, 2025, Japan Airlines (JAL) will open applications for its winter internship program, specifically tailored for business planning roles. This year's theme focuses on "diversity" and "challenge," aiming to blend the unique perspectives of participants while providing a transformative experience that encourages them to reflect on their career paths.

Innovative Global Experience Introduction

For the first time, JAL will expand the internship experience beyond Japan, offering overseas programs in three vibrant cities: Honolulu, London, and Sydney. Participants will engage in a comprehensive experience program that showcases various aspects of business planning. This initiative reflects JAL's commitment to enhancing global work experiences, especially as the number of Japanese students studying abroad continues to be relatively low. Additionally, the prolonged job-hunting process in Japan has made it difficult for students abroad to seize internship opportunities with Japanese companies, leading to missed chances for employment. In response to these challenges, JAL is creating an environment that enables overseas students to participate in internships, pioneering a path for Japanese youth to thrive globally within the aviation industry.

Overview of the Winter Internship

Business Planning Comprehensive Experience Program

The internship encompasses various tracks: Corporate Course (C), Operations Course (O), Business & Marketing Course (M), and Data Science & Digital Technology Course (DD). Participants will receive hands-on experience in actual workplaces, segmented into a two-day corporate research phase and a three-day practical phase.

Overseas Internship Schedule

Corporate Research Phase

• - Honolulu (USA): December 3, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM (local time)
• - London (UK): December 9, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM (local time)
• - Sydney (Australia): December 13, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM (local time)

The practical phase is expected to take place after January 2026, and participation is limited to corporate research phase attendees, with selection criteria in place.

Domestic Internship Schedule

Corporate Research Phase

• - Term 1: December 11, 2025
• - Term 2: December 13, 2025

(Locations: Tennozu, Tokyo; Haneda area)
The practical phase will follow in February 2026, with similar selection criteria applied.

Important Notes

• - Participants cannot apply for both domestic and overseas internships simultaneously.
• - The overseas internship is open to those currently enrolled at four-year universities, graduate schools, or language schools abroad.
