Aderans Enriches 'Baghdad Café' Musical with Custom Wigs and Hair Styling

Aderans Collaborates on 'Baghdad Café': A Hair and Makeup Journey

Aderans, a leader in the wellness industry specializing in hair, beauty, health, and medical services globally, is set to make a remarkable contribution to the musical 'Baghdad Café'. This partnership will take place from November 2 to November 23 at the Hibiya Theatre Creation in Tokyo, Japan. Under the expertise of Aderans’ cultural and arts division, Studio AD, the company will not only create tailored wigs for the show but will also oversee hair and makeup during the performances.

The enchanting artistic wigs provided by Aderans are meticulously crafted to ensure not just aesthetic appeal, but also to reflect the identities and nuances of the characters within the production. Studio AD employs high-quality, breathable materials to ensure the wigs are comfortable to wear, eliminating any sense of discomfort for the cast members, who are fitted personally to ensure a proper fit. This attention to detail resonates with the company’s ethos of enhancing the performers' capabilities and ensuring they can immerse themselves fully in their roles.

In 'Baghdad Café', two main characters will don Aderans’ custom wigs: Mari Hanao as Jasmine Munshtehtner and Kumiko Mori as Brenda. These performances will showcase the wigs, which allow for a seamless integration into the narrative.

Aderans' Artistic Leadership

Miyuki Hayashi, who leads the planning for the hair and makeup for 'Baghdad Café', joined Aderans in 2003 after valuable experience in salon work. Her portfolio includes extensive work in productions such as 'Itaewon Class', 'Cain & Abel', and many other significant works. Her contributions to both visual contexts and still photography further underline her expertise in the industry, ensuring that the hair and makeup will resonate with audiences and critics alike.

The Story Behind 'Baghdad Café'

The musical unfolds in a neglected diner, gas station, and motel in the western American desert, aptly named 'Baghdad Café'. It chronicles the story of Brenda, a woman burdened by the stresses of motherhood and an unsatisfactory marriage, who unexpectedly encounters Jasmine, a German traveler escaping her own tumultuous past. Brenda’s initial skepticism toward Jasmine gradually turns into a heartwarming connection that internalizes the themes of healing and community as Jasmine’s presence transforms the lives of those in and around the café, forging a magical bond among the characters.

This anticipated musical will take the Hibiya Theatre Creation stage from November 2 to November 23, 2025, with tickets priced at ¥13,500 on weekdays and ¥14,000 on weekends and holidays (tax included). Produced by Toho, 'Baghdad Café' promises to be a spectacle filled with emotions that transcend cultural boundaries.
