Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges: Global Fashion Summit 2025



From June 3 to 5, 2025, Copenhagen served as the stage for the Global Fashion Summit, where more than 1,000 prominent figures from the fashion world convened. Trailblazer Programme Award: The GFA, in collaboration with PDS Ventures, awarded the prestigious 2025 Trailblazer Programme to Refiberd, a company whose innovative practices in fiber recycling hold the potential to revolutionize the textile industry. This accolade comes with a financial investment and support to help the company scale its operations.

2. Cradle to Cradle Certification: REUP made headlines by becoming the first global fiber producer to achieve Cradle to Cradle Certified® for Product Circularity, validating its recycled cotton and polyester for their circularity. This significant milestone positions REUP as a leader in the fiber-to-fiber recycling movement.

3. Bio-derived LYCRA® Fiber Introduction: In partnership with Qore®, The LYCRA Company announced plans to produce the world's first large-scale commercial bio-derived LYCRA® fiber utilizing dent corn. This innovation replaces the finite resources traditionally used in manufacturing LYCRA®, representing a significant leap towards sustainability.

4. Zalando's Sustainability Report: On June 3, Zalando released 'It takes many', its second consumer sustainability behavior report, which highlights the discrepancies between consumer intentions and actions in sustainable fashion, urging industry-wide collaboration toward promoting eco-friendly consumption.

5. Introduction of INNOVERA™: Modern Meadow unveiled INNOVERA™, an animal-free material made from plant proteins and recycled rubber, boasting more than 80% renewable carbon content. This high-performance alternative mimics leather's aesthetic while being environmentally responsible.

6. Fashion Industry Solutions on eBay: eBay showcased its efforts in fostering circularity within the fashion industry through various resale solutions, from brand outlets to take-back programs for pre-loved items.

7. Circular Transition Indicators Launch: The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) revealed the Circular Transition Indicators (CTI) Sector Guidance 2.0, which aims to integrate circular performance measurement into the decision-making processes of fashion companies.

8. Future Forward Factories Initiative: A partnership between Fashion for Good and Arvind Limited launched an initiative focused on sustainable textile manufacturing, including a groundbreaking facility in Gujarat, India, designed to validate sustainable practices at a commercial scale.

9. Ellen MacArthur Foundation Insights: Following the success of The Fashion ReModel, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation introduced a guide to help fashion leaders integrate circular business models into their strategies, unlocking both financial and environmental benefits.

Innovation Forum and Leadership Roundtables


This year's summit featured an Innovation Forum, which showcased 30 solution providers demonstrating cutting-edge materials and end-of-use technologies. The tailored Matchmaking program facilitated over 400 introductions, promoting collaboration across the fashion ecosystem.

Moreover, the summit hosted 18 exclusive Leadership Roundtables, focusing on actionable discussions surrounding challenges like decarbonization and climate adaptation in luxury value chains. Prominent decision-makers engaged in constructive dialogues to create a roadmap for future sustainability efforts.
