AMBER GAMES, the official game label of BS Asahi, has exciting news! The company has partnered with KENEI DESIGN to release a brand-new game titled HEIMA. This enthralling title will be showcased at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2026 (TGS 2026) from September 17, where attendees can explore the game hands-on at the AMBER GAMES booth.

About HEIMA

HEIMA translates to “home” in Icelandic, symbolizing the journey of a boy stepping into parallel worlds in search of his lost brother. This game is not just a simple puzzle action, but an immersive experience incorporating stunning visuals, compelling music, and a rich narrative. HEIMA has been recognized as part of the Agency for Cultural Affairs' support initiative for media arts creators for the fiscal year 2025.

A Race Against Time

The story follows a young protagonist named Egen, who embarks on a perilous quest to locate his brother, Shunei, who mysteriously vanished during a teleportation experiment. Humanity had achieved a long-desired goal: instantaneous travel to distant places through a teleportation network. However, this advancement inadvertently connected to non-existent “parallel worlds.” As Egen traverses these unfamiliar realms, he encounters alternate versions of himself — different in appearance, personality, and life experiences. The game explores themes of identity and connection as Egen collaborates with these alternate selves, forging bonds while searching for his brother.

Gameplay Features

At the core of HEIMA’s gameplay are two fundamental mechanics: Shift and Hold. The Shift function enables players to swap the positions of objects, whereas the Hold function allows players to freeze an object in place. These opposing abilities challenge players to think strategically. Decisions on what to move and what to keep stationary dramatically alter the gameplay dynamics, encouraging players to explore their creativity to carve paths through intricate puzzles.

A Creative Collaboration

The game is helmed by KENEI DESIGN's Ken'ei Hayama and Yuki Nishimura from PHINEX. Previously central members of the Terra Battle development team, these creators have reunited after some time to pursue this new venture. Hayama drives the direction and design, while Nishimura spearheads planning and game design, blending their experiences and unique perspectives to deliver a fresh gaming experience often seen in indie projects.
