Blockchain for Good Alliance Showcases Innovative Projects for Sustainable Development Goals
On November 4-5, 2025, the Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA) hosted the Blockchain Impact Forum in Copenhagen, Denmark, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and its Alternative Finance Lab. This flagship non-profit, co-founded by Bybit, seeks to leverage blockchain technology for responsible innovation and societal good, drawing over 300 participants from more than 30 countries.
The two-day event served as a crucial platform for policymakers, technologists, and impact leaders to explore how blockchain can contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Titled "Chains of Change," the forum kicked off with an invite-only leadership day, focusing on governance, digital public infrastructure, and fostering cross-sector partnerships. The second day highlighted groundbreaking projects through the BGAwards, recognizing blockchain ventures tackling issues related to financial inclusion, sustainability, and digital trust.
Prominent themes at the forum included:
1. Blockchain for Digital Public Goods - Investigating governance, digital identity, and transparent data systems.
2. Finance for Inclusion and Impact - Analyzing blockchain's potential to democratize capital access and enhance financial equity.
3. Sustainability and Climate Accountability - Presenting blockchain applications in carbon tracking, supply chain transparency, and ESG reporting.
Keynote speakers included BGA's Co-CEO Helen Liu, Robert Pasicko from UNDP AltFinLab, and CEOs from leading blockchain firms such as Kraken, Cardano Foundation, and VeChain. These leaders shared insights on how blockchain can evolve to create more trust-based systems and improve transparency, ultimately bridging the gap between innovation and development.
Helen Liu expressed the Alliance's mission: "Blockchain technology has matured beyond speculation. At the Forum, we saw how stakeholders are employing it to promote transparency, accountability, and concrete social impact." This sentiment was echoed throughout the event, reaffirming the need for collaboration between public and private sectors to align blockchain initiatives with human development goals.
The highlight of the Forum was the BGAwards 2025 ceremony, which honored projects exemplifying significant contributions to the SDGs. Noteworthy winners included Genius Tags, Plastiks, and ZenGate as SDG Blockchain Accelerator winners, each receiving $2,000. A total of $10,000 was awarded to the first-place winner in the BGA Incubation 2025 program, which identified promising blockchain solutions at different stages of development—Kelox for ideation and Token Tails for growth.
Additional initiatives were recognized in partnership with other funds as Genpulse and Cokeeps, among others, showcasing the collaborative efforts driving innovation within the blockchain ecosystem. The Forum concluded with special recognition awards for individuals contributing significantly to the field, embodying the spirit of leadership and stewardship.
The event marked a watershed moment for the blockchain industry, setting a precedent for future conventions focused on leveraging technology for good. It was evident that participants like Helen Liu are committed to not only advancing blockchain advancements but also ensuring they contribute to a more inclusive, trustworthy, and sustainable world.
Helen Liu stated, "The movement we are witnessing is a transformative force where blockchain provides a shared infrastructure for trust and accountability. At BGA, our endeavor is to translate innovation into impact, one block at a time, towards a fairer future."
As the Blockchain for Good Alliance expands its ecosystem, the commitment to responsible blockchain initiatives remains at the core of its mission, further cementing its role in addressing pressing global challenges via innovative technological solutions.
