Zeta Phi Beta Sorority's Virtual Town Hall: Honoring Juneteenth and Economic Justice Initiatives

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Commemorates Juneteenth with a Virtual Town Hall

In a significant celebration of Juneteenth, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. held a virtual Economic Justice Town Hall on June 18, 2025. This event was dedicated to honoring the profound vision of the Sorority’s five founders and the remarkable contributions of Dr. Opal Lee, often referred to as the "Grandmother of Juneteenth." Dr. Lee is not only a pivotal figure in advocating for Juneteenth to be recognized nationally, but she is also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta.

The Economic Justice Town Hall served as a platform to reaffirm the Sorority’s unwavering commitment to economic empowerment within African American communities. Dr. Stacie NC Grant, the International President and CEO of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., articulated that Juneteenth symbolizes more than a celebratory holiday; it embodies a call to action against systemic inequities. She emphasized that pursuing economic justice is crucial for the realization of the American Dream and requires collective efforts to dismantle disparities in employment, housing, healthcare access, and financial literacy.

The event featured inspiring discussions from various community leaders and partners who support economic empowerment initiatives. Highlighted during the Town Hall were the Sorority's strategic alliances, particularly the Women Who Win initiative, launched in 2022. This initiative is designed to aid small business owners in cultivating generational wealth through entrepreneurship.

Honored Partnerships

Among the honored partners were:
  • - Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC): This partnership is a groundbreaking first within National PanHellenic Council organizations, advancing the landscape for women entrepreneurs through business certification, mentorship programs, and scalable development initiatives.

The insights shared not only celebrated past achievements but also projected a future where economic empowerment becomes accessible to all.
