This touching narrative follows the profound relationship between an 80-year-old woman and her beloved car over 25 years, culminating in their final three days together.

MAD STARS is held annually in Busan, South Korea, and celebrates creative ideas that address shared human challenges. This year's festival took place from August 27 to 29 at SIGNIEL BUSAN, where the award ceremony and conference attracted advertising professionals from all around the globe.

Highlights of the Winning Documentary

The documentary encapsulates the emotional journey between a woman and her vehicle, showcasing moments of companionship, nostalgia, and heartache. It presents a poignant exploration of how a car can be much more than just a mode of transport; it can represent memories, companionship, and a rich tapestry of life experiences. This narrative struck a chord with viewers, inviting them to reflect on their own connections with vehicles and the memories they hold.

Insights from the Creatives

Rinichi Ogawa, the planner and director of the documentary, expressed his belief that it is “the words of people that truly move hearts.” He mentioned how the words of the protagonist, Nishimoto-san, illustrated that cars are not merely vehicles but enriching presences in our lives. He extended his gratitude to everyone who contributed, particularly Nishimoto-san, who shared her final moments with her car in such a genuine manner.

Similarly, producer and content designer Tomoka Sunada reflected on the modern age characterized by the overflow of visual content on platforms like YouTube. She stated, “It is the stories of human words and lives that deeply resonate with audiences.” Her appreciation was directed towards Nishimoto-san, MAZDA, and the shooting crew for their dedication to the project.
