Yokkaichi City Launches New Platform for Families
In a significant move to support families, Yokkaichi City has launched a new web resource named
'Yoniku', which serves as a centralized hub for information related to children and parenting. Managed by the city's Child Futures Division,
Yoniku was officially unveiled on January 14, 2026, in response to the previous lack of easily accessible information regarding children and parenting activities and events within the city. The initiative aims to empower families with better access to crucial data and encourage active participation in various local experiences.
Purpose of Data Integration
The objective of this data partnership is to broadcast child-friendly event information through
Yoniku, making it easier for families and other interested users from within and outside Yokkaichi to search and access necessary event details. By amplifying the availability of local event information, the city hopes to attract visitors from neighboring areas and enhance community engagement.
Categories and Filtering Options
The events listed on
Yoniku come with essential details such as titles, dates, and locations, along with categorization based on children's age groups. This includes categories like
0-2 years,
3-5 years,
elementary school students, and
junior and senior high school students. Additionally, there are filters to determine whether events can be attended on rainy days, enabling users to refine their search based on specific needs.
Collaboration with Yokkaichi City Event Aggregation Site
The partnership utilizes child-related event information from the broader
Yokkaichi City Event Aggregation Site, which has been operational since 2020. By doing so, the collaboration seeks to efficiently distribute child-focused event data while also fulfilling the diverse needs of users looking for non-child-specific information within the same platform.
City and Company Insights
Yokkaichi City has outlined its commitment to child development in their
Yokkaichi Child Plan, enacted in March 2025. This plan emphasizes collaboration among local communities, organizations, schools, and municipal bodies to support child and family welfare holistically. The launch of
Yoniku brings various child and parenting information together on a single web platform, enabling easier access to critical policies, support mechanisms, and event details, all designed to foster a nurturing environment for children in the area.
Yasuko Yano, CEO of
