Building a Sustainable Future
On March 4, 2026, the PalSystem Producer-Consumer Council is set to convene its 37th Annual General Meeting at the Nikkei Hall in Chiyoda, Tokyo. This unique assembly will bring together 300 stakeholders, including producers who engage in direct partnerships with PalSystem and consumers who utilize their services. The gathering aims to foster conversations surrounding sustainable production and consumption.
A Platform for Collaboration
The general meeting will kick off with discussions about the activities and policy directions for the 2026 fiscal year, as well as elections for board members. In the previous year, 342 participants exchanged valuable insights, reflecting a robust commitment to mutual understanding among producers and consumers.
Following the general meeting, a forum will take place, featuring presentations by participants from the program called “Next-Generation Leaders Training.” This initiative is designed to prepare the next generation of leaders within PalSystem and its partner farms, and has successfully engaged over 400 individuals since its inception in 2016. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about innovative practices and complex challenges faced in the agriculture and livestock sectors.
Focus on Future Development
The forum will include a panel discussion featuring five producers from various sectors, including rice, vegetables, fruit, livestock, and eggs. Together, they will reflect upon the visions set forth for their respective production areas, especially in light of climate change impacts. The discussions will address strategies for stable supply and practical steps that can be taken now to ensure direct distribution remains viable and productive into the future.
With a shared commitment to advancing direct transactions, the PalSystem Producer-Consumer Council was established in 1990 as a platform for collaboration between producers, consumers, and the organization itself. Presently, the council comprises 169 member production areas primarily engaged in agriculture and livestock, along with 11 cooperative groups and nine supporting fisheries.
