VELUX Opens Its First Experience Center in North America
Location: Mountain View, California
VELUX, the industry leader in skylights and innovative daylighting solutions, has officially launched its first North American Experience Center in Mountain View, California. This opening marks a significant milestone for the company as it seeks to engage homeowners, architects, builders, and the wider community in understanding how to leverage natural light and fresh air to enhance home environments.
The Experience Center, situated at 312 Castro St, transforms the traditional showroom concept into an engaging, interactive destination for all. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in a variety of rooms designed to exhibit the profound effects that daylight and ventilation can have on health, mood, and overall home comfort. VELUX products, known for their innovative functionality, are brought to life through hands-on exhibits, allowing guests to witness firsthand how these solutions can be integrated into daily living.
A Journey Through Design and Wellness
The design approach for this center was conceptualized by OEO Studio from Copenhagen, with architectural oversight by DERN Architecture + Development and construction managed by Hillhouse Construction Company. As visitors navigate through the Experience Center, they encounter multiple zones that convincingly demonstrate the impact of daylight on aspects such as sleep quality and indoor air quality. Each interactive section of the center aims to educate guests about the benefits of smart skylight technology and natural ventilation.
Stephan Moyon, president of VELUX America/VELUX Canada, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "This VELUX Experience Center represents an exciting new chapter for our company. For over 50 years, we've assisted individuals in introducing more daylight and fresh air into their homes. Now we are creating a space that allows visitors to tangibly experience those advantages, explore design options, and understand the added comfort and wellness elements that daylight can introduce to their living spaces."
Hands-On Learning Experience
Throughout the Experience Center, guests can engage with working skylights, explore various integrated shade systems, and utilize smart home controls—all pivotal elements that showcase how to improve living environments. The center is more than a hub for consumer exploration; it is designed as a resource for industry professionals, housing VELUX's third Pro Partner Academy in the U.S. Here, contractors can benefit from complimentary training on both business opportunities and the practicalities of skylight installations.
Furthermore, VELUX offers personalized consultations with design specialists who assist in planning renovation or new construction projects. This service covers important topics such as skylight positioning, product selection, and best practices for installation.
Opening Hours and Future Opportunities
Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, VELUX’s Experience Center encourages visitors to tour independently or book a consultation at no cost. With a focus on collaboration and inspiration, the center aims to become a cornerstone for the creative blending of daylight solutions in various architecture and design projects.
Moyon highlighted the sentiments of inspiration and creativity, stating, "Whether visitors are in the midst of a remodel, designing a custom home, or simply seeking ideas, we aimed to create a space where they can truly experience the transformative power of daylight and the fresh air it brings."
