Spotify Stage Returns to Summer Sonic 2025
Spotify, the leading audio streaming service with over 678 million users globally, is set to collaborate with Japan's prominent urban music festival, Summer Sonic. In its third year of partnership, the festival will showcase a newly renamed stage, the 'Spotify Stage', presenting a vibrant mix of both emerging and established artists.
Scheduled for August 16th and 17th at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, the Spotify Stage will represent two popular playlists: 'RADAR: Early Noise' and '+81 Connect'. This year's line-up promises to be thrilling with 13 innovative artists scheduled to perform under the 'RADAR: Early Noise Special'. Artists such as
Chilli Beans,
Mega Shinnosuke, and
muque are among the notable names, ensuring a diverse range of sounds and styles. Each act brings unique qualities that contribute to the stage's dynamic atmosphere.
Emerging Stars on the Spotify Stage
The 'RADAR: Early Noise' playlist aims to spotlight artists on the rise, helping them build a listener base and make impactful connections with fans. Some of the expected performers this year include the previously featured AKASAKI, ziproom, CHO CO PA CO CHO CO QUIN QUIN, PASTASTA, Billyrrom, and retro soul act, retoリロン, among others. This collaboration provides a vital platform for these artists to showcase their talent on a grand stage.
On the second day, fans can anticipate a special 'Connect Live' featuring J-Hip Hop culture's prominent figures,
JP THE WAVY,
Elle Teresa, and
swetty. This segment is poised to create an electrifying atmosphere as the artists engage in a sharable micro-rap performance that builds momentum as they connect live.
Spotify’s Journey in Japan
Spotify has been a vital part of the Japanese music scene since launching in autumn 2016. The platform has facilitated new encounters between fans and artists through various initiatives that blend offline and online experiences. Since 2017, the 'Early Noise' program has been- promoting emerging artists and helping them expand their reach through playlists and events. The launch of 'RADAR: Early Noise' in spring 2020 offered even greater scale and visibility to participating artists, continuing the tradition of supporting new talent.
In the years since, the festival stage has already welcomed distinguished artists such as 新しい学校のリーダーズ, imase, and LANA. There have also been unexpected surprises like last year’s 'Connect Live: after hours', which featured guest performances from members of YENTOWN alongside kZm, leaving audiences buzzing with excitement.
