Experience Sustainable Living Through Theatre at Tokyo Art Garden Event

Experience Sustainable Living Through Theatre at Tokyo Art Garden

In a unique blend of art and business, Nihon Steel Kowa Real Estate Co., based in Minato, Tokyo, will participate in the Tokyo Art Garden event on August 17, 2025, held at TODA HALL & CONFERENCE TOKYO in Chuo, Tokyo. This innovative event is centered around the theme of co-creation through art, aiming to foster deep connections and new value generation among business professionals.

Concept of Tokyo Art Garden

The Tokyo Art Garden seeks to create a platform where individuals can engage with art to develop empathy and foster new relationships. Nihon Steel Kowa aims to use this event to communicate their commitment to sustainability through housing initiatives. By sharing experiences, they aspire to help attendees return with new insights regarding sustainable living.

Introducing BOOK HOTEL Monogatari

As part of their broader sustainability efforts, in June 2024, the company will open a new lodging experience called BOOK HOTEL Monogatari in a room within a wooden rental building, Livio Maison Ookayama, located in Meguro, Tokyo. The hotel's unique concept revolves around cherished items which, although released, carry significant memories.

This accommodation will feature a collection of emotionally-laden possessions donated by ten storytellers, along with narratives encapsulated in ZINES (small booklets). Guests can interact with the stories and items, encouraging them to reflect on their own memories and consider that reusing items is a form of sustainable living.

At the Tokyo Art Garden, the hotel will showcase these items along with an original theatrical performance inspired by the stories shared by the creators. This performative work serves to invoke thoughts about the value of objects, emphasizing the backstories and emotional currents that traditional text cannot fully express. Therefore, attendees will enjoy a richly immersive experience that brings the essence of the narratives to life.

Additionally, a recreated environment that injects art into the essence of BOOK HOTEL Monogatari will be present at the event, facilitating a small journey connecting objects with memories. Attendees will have the opportunity to discover pieces of stories by engaging with the displayed commemorative items and narratives, as well as by reading the ZINE's content. This interactive setup invites visitors to embark on a journey through the memories tied to these cherished items.
