Japan's Young Entrepreneurs Promote Sustainable Local Growth Through Innovative Initiatives

Japan's Young Entrepreneurs Champion Local Prosperity

The Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Young Entrepreneurs, known as Japan YEG, has released its annual activity report for the fiscal year 2023 under the slogan "YEG Common - Uniting our Hearts to Create New Economic Value for the Future." With a vast network of 417 branches nationwide, this organization has been proactive in addressing local challenges, especially in the face of declining populations and worsening regional issues.

Building a Strong National Network and Leadership Development

In an effort to connect young business leaders across the country, the YEG organized a national meeting of all branch presidents and prefectural representatives. This assembly focused on discussing the future of local communities and the mission of youth entrepreneurs, with an emphasis on enhancing leadership qualities and strengthening connections within the network.

Creating New Economic Value (Establishment of YEG Economic Zone)

To foster business opportunities among its members, Japan YEG revamped its "Business Exchange Plaza," creating a platform for free public relations and business matching. This initiative accelerates the creation of new business ventures among members. Moreover, the organization hosts the "YEG Research Group" online throughout the year, facilitating collaborative learning, problem-solving, and network building among members facing managerial challenges.

Innovation Through Digital and Real-world Integration (National Convention)

The 45th National Convention, held in Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture, showcased a pioneering model by utilizing the metaverse (Fortnite) for the event. By merging online and real-world participation, they eliminated geographical restrictions, demonstrating next-generation interaction models that included esports tournaments and virtual spaces for community engagement.

International Business Creation and Collaboration (MOU Signing)

Coinciding with the Osaka-Kansai Expo, Japan YEG engaged 22 countries and approximately 70 leaders from overseas youth economic organizations in a recent exchange event. Additionally, they signed memorandums of understanding (MOU) with youth economic organizations from five Asian nations during the national conference. These countries include Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Through these agreements, Japan YEG is expanding its international network, advancing into economic collaboration through international business matching, reciprocal exchanges among young entrepreneurs, and the creation of joint projects.

Commitment to a Sustainable Society

Japan YEG is dedicated to establishing a sustainable society under its "Sustainable Declaration," which emphasizes promoting SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), gender equality, and localized circular economies. Members across the nation are provided with practical information and encouraged to reform their awareness, significantly contributing to the development of a sustainable local economy.

Achievements in Public Relations

Throughout the fiscal year, Japan YEG successfully communicated its activities, disseminating a total of 12 press releases via PR TIMES.

From President Ono's statement to dialogues with the chairman of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and discussions with regional young mayors, Japan YEG's efforts were highlighted publicly. Additionally, they established partnerships with Kumamoto University and held leadership training sessions.

Events such as "YEG Day," the upcoming YEG BUSINESS EXPO 2025, and invaluable business plan competitions represent the breadth of Japan YEG's contributions to society, ensuring that their activities reach a broad audience.

Conclusion

The collective efforts of approximately 32,000 members across 417 branches signify a commitment that transcends mere activities; it embodies a dedication to practical applications for the future. Moving forward, Japan YEG aims to continue pioneering new avenues of potential for regional economies, grounded in a philosophy of sustainable social prosperity.
