On June 2, 2025, CAE Inc., a leader in aviation training solutions, announced the appointment of Matthew Bromberg as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective August 13, 2025. Bromberg's appointment is part of a structured transition plan following the departure of Marc Parent, who has served as the company’s President and CEO for 16 years. This change comes alongside the announcement that Calin Rovinescu will become the Executive Chairman of the Board, while Sophie Brochu will take on the role of Lead Independent Director.
Matthew Bromberg brings a wealth of experience to CAE, having spent his career in the aerospace and defense sectors. Before joining CAE, he was the head of Global Operations for Northrop Grumman Corporation, where he championed key initiatives that streamlined operations and improved program efficiency. His leadership roles have spanned multiple capacities within the aerospace market, including his time as President of Military Engines at RTX Corp. (previously Raytheon Technologies Corp.) and as President of Commercial Aftermarket Operations for Pratt & Whitney.
Bromberg holds distinguished academic credentials, including an MBA and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley. His educational background, combined with extensive leadership experience, positions him well to steer CAE into its next growth phase.
In a statement, Bromberg expressed enthusiasm for the challenges ahead, noting that CAE is well-positioned for robust growth amidst evolving market dynamics. He emphasized his commitment to furthering innovation and operational excellence, aiming to enhance value for stakeholders globally.
Calin Rovinescu, in his new role as Executive Chairman, acknowledged the critical transitions taking place and underlined the importance of strong governance for CAE's future. With both Bromberg and Rovinescu at the helm, the company seeks to fortify its leadership structure in a manner that responds adeptly to evolving customer needs. Rovinescu, who previously led Air Canada, highlighted the synergies that come with both he and Bromberg's rich backgrounds in aviation-related industries.
Sophie Brochu, as Lead Independent Director, further strengthens CAE’s governance framework, ensuring the board adheres to best practices while fostering a direct line of communication with independent directors in executive sessions. Brochu's experience as the former President and CEO of Hydro-Québec adds a unique perspective aimed at sustainability and growth, aligning with CAE’s long-term strategic vision.
As CAE prepares for this significant leadership shift, the company stands committed to developing high-caliber simulation and training solutions that provide critical preparedness for aviation professionals and defense forces alike. With approximately 13,000 employees worldwide, CAE operates across more than 40 countries, continually positioning itself as a frontrunner in innovation within the aviation sector.
