Sigenergy Unveils 20 MWh Energy Storage Solution for Global Commercial and Industrial Use

Sigenergy's Groundbreaking Modular Energy Storage Solutions

In an era where energy transition is pivotal, Sigenergy's recent showcase of its modular energy storage solutions in Burgas, Bulgaria, marks a significant milestone for the company and the energy sector as a whole. Drawing nearly 300 experts from across the globe, the event highlighted the future of energy storage systems specifically tailored for commercial and industrial (CI) applications. The centerpiece of the gathering was a visit to a landmark project showcasing a 20 MWh capacity energy storage system built on Sigenergy’s innovative modular technology.

Advancing Energy Solution Technology

In collaboration with Trakia MT Ltd., a leading Bulgarian solar energy firm, Sigenergy has implemented a system involving 90 hybrid inverters at a solar power plant, paired with the SigenStack modular energy storage solution.

Tony Xu, the founder and CEO of Sigenergy, stated, "Our mission at Sigenergy is to accelerate the global transition to clean energy through innovative and scalable energy storage solutions. This project exemplifies how advanced battery systems can drive business growth and decarbonization across various sectors." The modular approach adopted in the SigenStack solution fundamentally redefines how energy storage systems are constructed for CI applications. It allows for the replacement of traditional bulky container systems with scalable battery modules, each producing 12 kWh of capacity.

The incorporation of plug-and-play connections means that installation doesn’t require extensive wiring and heavy machinery, streamlining the setup process significantly. Remarkably, the entire 20 MWh installation was completed in just 10 days, with a mere two days needed for full operational testing.

Safety and Modularity Redefining Industry Standards

Sigenergy’s battery energy storage solutions (BESS) set new safety benchmarks in the industry. The SigenStack system integrates safety features at multiple levels. Each 12 kWh battery module is outfitted with advanced safeguards including temperature sensors, internal fire suppression systems, aerogel insulation, decompression valves, high-temperature insulating gaskets, and smoke detectors. This design enables early detection and rapid localized response to thermal runaway within seconds, unlike conventional cabinet systems which generally lack compartmentalization and take more than a minute to react, enhancing fire spreading risks.

Moreover, Sigenergy’s optimized inverter platform includes ultra-rapid (500 ms) anti-backfeed protection and utilizes Arc Fault Circuit Interruption (AFCI) technologies capable of detecting faults from distances of up to 500 meters.

In partnership with Intertek, a global safety audit service provider, Sigenergy has compiled a safety technical publication further validating its compliance with UL 9540A and IEC 62619 standards. The documentation confirms the structural integrity under extreme conditions and operational efficiency above 95%.

Reliability and Zero Maintenance

Sigenergy’s BESS for CI applications is designed for continuous operation, requiring no technical maintenance due to its reliable safety mechanisms and modular structure. With an IP66 ingress protection rating, the solution performs reliably under varied environmental conditions, unlike typical cabinet systems that often feature vulnerable components requiring monthly checks, biannual part replacements, and annual comprehensive maintenance.

Real-time monitoring via a cloud platform grants full access to system health data, energy output, and alarm signals, significantly reducing on-site inspection needs. Furthermore, faulty battery modules can be individually replaced within two hours, minimizing downtime and simplifying logistics for spare parts, which lowers operational costs considerably.

Conclusion

The successful implementation of Sigenergy’s innovative energy storage solutions underscores their advantages in rapid installation, safety, operational reliability, and intelligent management. The company is poised to expand its global footprint, pushing the deployment of safer, more efficient, and environmentally-conscious energy solutions worldwide.
