A Dream Realized: A Six-Year-Old's Adventure on MSC Bellissima
In a heartwarming initiative facilitated by Aeon Fantasy, a six-year-old boy named Yuuma from Nishinomiya, Hyogo, had his dream of seeing the cockpit of a giant cruise ship come true. This remarkable event took place on October 13, thanks to the cooperation of MSC Cruises Japan and Aeon Compass.
The Spark of Curiosity
Yuuma developed a fascination for ships during a family ferry trip earlier this year. One innocent question sparked his adventure: “Why can I see the cockpit of a train, but not that of a large ship?” Driven by genuine curiosity and the belief that many people must be working in the helm, Yuuma's inquiry captured the attention of MSC Cruises Japan, who were eager to support children's dreams.
A Day of Special Experiences
During the event, several unique experiences were arranged for Yuuma:
1. Exclusive Access to the Bridge
For the first time, MSC Bellissima’s bridge was opened to the media, allowing Yuuma to explore this vital area of the ship usually restricted to authorized personnel. With excitement, he greeted the Italian captain in Italian, receiving a warm welcome and a sailor’s hat as a gift. Guided by the captain, Yuuma had the chance to hold the ship’s helm, sit in the captain's chair, and even look through binoculars, making his dream a tangible reality.
2. Q&A with the Captain
Yuuma got to ask the captain his burning questions about ships, such as, “Is steering a ship difficult?” and “Where is the bridge located on the ship?” The captain kindly addressed each inquiry, answering with patience and warmth, further fueling Yuuma’s passion for maritime adventures.
3. Exploring MSC Bellissima
After visiting the bridge, Yuuma explored the luxurious amenities aboard MSC Bellissima, including an outdoor water park and a basketball court. The ship felt like a vibrant city, filled with entertainment for guests of all ages.
A Moment to Remember
Reflecting on this experience, Yuuma expressed his joy: “I was very happy to see the cockpit of a big ship! The captain was really cool! Grazie! Ciao!” His mother was equally moved: “We had been looking forward to this day. Seeing my son’s dream come true, and witnessing his excitement, left me ecstatic. On the way home, he confidently mentioned, ‘I will definitely ride this ship again!’ This day was incredibly special, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed.”
