Showcasing the Art of Dehua White Porcelain at the Palais des Nations in Geneva

The Dehua White Porcelain Exhibition in Geneva

In a remarkable display of craftsmanship, the Palais des Nations in Geneva recently hosted an exhibition featuring over 30 remarkable pieces of Dehua white porcelain. These jade-like artworks captivated the audience, showcasing a stunning array of textures and forms that embody the essence of oriental beauty. The exhibition, which took place on February 24, was initiated by the Dehua County in southeast China's Fujian Province and represents part of an international tour designed to elevate the profile of this exquisite porcelain in Europe.

Dehua County is globally recognized for producing the iconic "Blanc de Chine" porcelain, a term that originated nearly a millennium ago when white ceramics from this region first made their way to Europe. Today, the county is making a concerted effort to strengthen its presence in the European market, with porcelain exports already reaching over 190 countries and regions.

During the event at the Palais des Nations, guests including UN officials, foreign diplomats, and experts from various economic and cultural circles were drawn to the array of exhibits, which included striking porcelain bottles and finely crafted sculptures. The exhibition not only showcased the fine artistry of Dehua porcelain but also served as a catalyst for discussions on cultural exchange and global engagement.

In conjunction with the exhibition, a symposium on global governance and high-quality corporate development was held, featuring nearly 50 attendees encompassing Chinese and Swiss guests. They engaged in discussions about emerging opportunities in the international porcelain industry, highlighting the importance of cultural resonance between different nations.

Fang Junqin, the Party Chief of Dehua County, emphasized the exhibition’s goal to position "Blanc de Chine" on a broader global stage. This initiative is supported by a comprehensive branding strategy and a focus on cultural globalization, aiming to integrate Dehua more deeply into the global value chain. The county is actively pushing forward a five-year plan aimed at increasing its local porcelain industry revenue from 76 billion yuan to 100 billion yuan by 2027.

As part of this promotional effort, the "Blanc de Chine - Porcelain from Dehua" advertising center was inaugurated in Switzerland, marking a significant step for the Chinese county in its quest to penetrate the European market. This endeavor is expected to not only enhance the visibility of Dehua porcelain but also foster deeper international collaborations that enrich the cultural trading landscape.

The exhibition and associated events collectively underscore the cultural and economic potential of Dehua’s porcelain industry, showcasing how traditional craftsmanship can engage modern audiences while reinforcing economic ties across continents. As the exhibition continues its journey across Europe, it promises to leave a lasting impact on how Dehua porcelain is perceived and appreciated worldwide.

The essence of Dehua’s artistry encapsulated in this exhibition serves not merely as a showcase of beautiful objects but as a testament to the cultural exchange that bridges the gap between East and West. With a rich heritage to share, Dehua County is poised to continue influencing the global porcelain market and cultural dialogues for years to come.
