Citadel Credit Union Launches the 2026-27 Heart of Learning Awards Nominations

Citadel Opens Nominations for the 2026-27 Heart of Learning Awards

In an inspiring move to celebrate excellence in education, Citadel Credit Union has officially launched the nomination process for the 2026-27 Citadel Heart of Learning Awards. This initiative, which has become a cherished tradition over the years, seeks to recognize the enormous impact that educators have in shaping the future of their students and communities.

A Journey of Celebration and Support

For more than 25 years, the Citadel Heart of Learning Awards have highlighted the dedication and passion of teachers across southeastern Pennsylvania. The program has already honored over 465 educators and has disbursed more than $700,000 in awards to enhance educational opportunities for both teachers and their schools. This year, Citadel Credit Union anticipates recognizing 35 outstanding educators along with providing $100,000 in personal awards and school grants.

Steve Miller, the Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Engagement at Citadel, shared, "Some of the most meaningful moments in education happen quietly, when a teacher recognizes what a student needs and chooses to go the extra mile. We want to celebrate those stories by inviting students, families, colleagues, and community members to share their nominations."

How to Nominate

Nominations for the Heart of Learning Awards can come from a variety of sources including students, parents, fellow educators, administrators, and community members. The nomination process is straightforward and can be done online at CitadelBanking.com/Nominate until January 15, 2027.

To facilitate the nomination, Citadel has distributed nomination posters and QR codes at various schools and Citadel branches, making it easier for community members to participate. Furthermore, individuals can also share inspiring stories about their chosen educators on social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook by tagging @citadelcreditunion or @CitadelBanking and using the hashtag #CitadelHeartofLearning.

Meaningful Recognition

The awards not only serve to recognize exceptional teachers but also provide a platform for educators to reflect on the profound joy that comes from teaching. Kimberly McFadden, a Grand Prize Winner from the previous year, articulated her gratitude stating, "To be recognized for the work that I love and am passionate about is incredibly meaningful. I am thankful to my colleagues for nominating me.”

Similarly, Michael Andrews, another award recipient, remarked, “Teaching has become an unexpected passion that I have embraced enthusiastically. This recognition has stirred my soul.”

What to Expect from the Awards Ceremony

The recipients of the Heart of Learning Awards will be surprised and honored in a spring celebration. Each selected educator will receive a personal monetary prize, a school grant aimed at furthering educational programs, and Citadel's distinctive glass heart award, symbolizing their valuable contribution to the teaching profession.

Commitment to Education

Since its establishment in 2000, the Citadel Heart of Learning Awards program has been dedicated to recognizing educators from both public and private schools within Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties, including adjacent communities. These awards not only bring individual recognition to teachers but also emphasize Citadel's commitment to fostering excellence in education by supporting continued professional development.

Citadel Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned institution that offers banking, investment, and insurance services to its member base of over 295,000 individuals.
