Community Event: Jump into Joy with Pet Adoption!

February Star Sanctuary is excited to announce a heartwarming weekend dedicated to pet adoption in partnership with Petco Love and themed around the animated film 'The Cat in the Hat.' This uplifting event will occur on November 7 and 8 at 3910 Ausherman Road, Knoxville, Maryland, offering locals a chance to meet adorable pets in need of loving homes.

What's Happening?

The event is part of Petco Love's national pet adoption weekend, where attendees can expect to find various adoptable pets, including up to five horses and numerous cats. The gathering aims to spread joy and inform pet lovers about the joys of bringing a new pet into their lives. Potential pet parents are encouraged to fill out adoption inquiry forms online before arriving, ensuring a smooth adoption process.

A Call to the Community

Phyllis Smith, the co-founder and Executive Director of February Star Sanctuary, expressed, "If you have a paw or hoof-shaped hole in your heart, we welcome you to our November adoption event. Adopting a pet is fulfilling and a wonderful way to bring joy into your life while saving an animal in need."

Chelsea Staley, President of Petco Love, added, "The Cat in the Hat reminds us that even ordinary days can be joyful. Adopting a pet adds that same fun and possibility to your life, filling your home with love and laughter!"

The Cat in the Hat Connection

This pet adoption event nicely coincides with the release of 'The Cat in the Hat,’ an animated feature film debuting in theaters on November 6, 2026. The partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation promotes the importance of pet adoption and brings an entertaining twist to the usual adoption events. Special content, including a public service announcement by Bill Hader, the voice of the Cat, reinforces the campaign's message.
