SFA Unveils 75 Finalists for the 2027 sofi™ Awards

The Specialty Food Association (SFA) has recently disclosed the 75 finalists for the coveted 2027 sofi™ Awards, a highly prestigious recognition in the specialty food sector that honors outstanding products across 25 distinct categories. This announcement comes just in time for the upcoming Winter FancyFaire, scheduled for January 17-19 in San Francisco. The sofi Awards, which stand for specialty outstanding food innovation, are designed to spotlight excellence and creativity in food and beverage offerings.

The selection of the finalists is based on a rigorous judging process conducted by an esteemed panel of retail buyers. These experts assessed over 1,000 applications on numerous criteria, including flavor, appearance, aroma, and the overall quality of ingredients, in addition to the level of innovation presented by the products. As a result, 75 products have been recognized as Gold Award finalists, with an additional selection of three finalists acknowledged for Outstanding Packaging Design.

Among the notable finalists this year are exceptional offerings across various categories. For instance, in the Alcoholic Beverages section, the Demerara Syrup – El Guapo and Joachim Amaro – Lettieri Co. have made the list, while top contenders in the Bakery, Bread & Crackers category include Black Pepper Turmeric Crackers – Top Seedz and Gruyere Biscuits – Effie's Homemade. Furthermore, innovative Baking Ingredients like Brown Butter Milk Chocolate Chips – French Broad Chocolates made waves among judges. This diversity reflects a trend towards flavors that tantalize the palate and challenge conventional expectations in specialty foods.

In the Dairy & Eggs segment, Kesar Pista – Backyard Buffalo and Pasture Raised Soy Corn-Free Eggs – Utopihen Farms are helping to set trends that lean towards sustainability and quality. Meanwhile, Cucumber Mint Jabin – Jabin Beverage Company and Hoodoo Frontier Apple, Ponderosa Pine, and Honey Heirloom Beverage – NoWhere Foods represent the growing interest in non-alcoholic refreshers that are both unique and environmentally responsible.
