Experience the Captivating Fusion of Japanese Tea and Strawberries at Marunouchi Hotel's Afternoon Tea

A Delightful Afternoon Tea Experience at Marunouchi Hotel

The Essence of Spring: Japanese Tea and Strawberries

From March 1 to April 26, 2026, the Marunouchi Hotel, located at 1-6-3 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, will be offering a special afternoon tea experience at its 8th-floor French restaurant, Pom D'Adam. This enchanting event is themed around the fragrant allure of Japanese tea and the vibrant colors of strawberries, inviting guests to savor the depth of flavors that characterize these seasonal delights.

The afternoon tea features high-quality tea leaves from Ippodo Tea, a renowned specialty shop that has been in operation since 1717. The combination of gyokuro (premium shaded green tea) and matcha tea presents a unique opportunity to enjoy the rich, umami flavor and aroma of Japanese tea blended with delicate sweets.

A Sweet Journey Begins

Upon arriving, guests will be treated to a smooth and sophisticated Matcha Terrine Caramelized with Gyokuro. This innovative dessert melds the luxurious taste of matcha with white chocolate for a creamy mouthfeel, complemented by the caramelization on the surface that heightens the aromatic experience without masking the nuanced flavors of matcha. Paired with the umami-rich gyokuro, this dish represents a beautiful introduction to the afternoon tea, initiating a tantalizing journey through flavors.

The sweets offered are inspired by various green teas, featuring a range of desserts designed to showcase their individual identities. Notably, the Hojicha and Strawberry Crème Brûlée enjoys a rich, roasted aroma, enhanced by the gentle acidity of strawberries. Other highlights include creamy ganache with infused sencha and rich Baked Goods that showcase the sweet-tart flavor of semi-dried strawberries enhancing the umami of sencha. Each item is crafted to provide a playful contrast of textures, including smoothness, lightness, and a crisp bite, encouraging guests to explore the depth of flavors.

Savory Selections to Balance the Sweet

The savory offerings at Pom D'Adam expertly meld with the sweets, including a light cream infused with sencha and a delicate mousse made from fresh onions. Heartier options such as Duck Rôti and Pâté de Campagne allow guests to savor the umami of meats, showcasing a balanced play with strawberry sauces and marinades that bring forth delightful depth to the flavors.

A Mini Dessert Delight

For an additional fee of 1,000 yen, guests can elevate their experience with a mini dessert known as Hojicha Pudding with Strawberry Confiture and Sencha Espuma Parfait. This refreshing treat offers layers of contrasting aromas and textures, presenting yet another pleasurable dimension to the afternoon tea experience.
