The 7th China International Import Expo: A Resounding Success



The 7th iteration of the China International Import Expo (CIIE), held on November 10 in Shanghai, concluded successfully, marking a significant milestone in global trade fairs. The event attracted extensive international participation and showcased remarkable business opportunities, underlining its essential role in promoting global cooperation and commerce.

Key Highlights and Statistics



According to preliminary figures, the total transaction value for the expo reached an impressive $80.01 billion, reflecting a 2% increase from the previous year. This impressive result is attributed to the strong engagement of 3,496 companies from 129 countries and regions who came together to exhibit their offerings. Notably, 1,585 of these companies hailed from 104 nations involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, along with 1,106 companies from 13 regions participating in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. The diversity of exhibitors was also apparent, with 132 companies from 35 least developed countries contributing to the exhibition.

The expo served as a pivotal platform, inviting participants from 77 nations and international organizations across five continents to engage in extensive national exhibitions. Exhibitors utilized unique cultural elements and modern technologies to design their booths, enhancing the overall visitor experience. Furthermore, over 200 engaging events were organized at various stands, fostering a collaborative environment for business interactions.

Innovation and New Premieres



A significant draw for attendees was the special innovation incubation section, which showcased 360 innovative projects from 34 countries. This initiative aims to nurture small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups by connecting them with potential investors and partners.

Additionally, a staggering 450 new products, services, and technologies were presented by international companies, which included over 100 global debuts, 40 Asian premieres, and more than 200 Chinese introductions. This influx of innovation is expected to stimulate the growing consumer demand across various sectors.

International Forum for Economic Dialogue



The Hongqiao International Economic Forum (HQF), an integral component of the expo, attracted over 8,600 registered participants and gathered more than 300 renowned experts and leaders from politics, business, and academia. The forum served as a discussion platform on trending topics, further enhancing collaboration opportunities among nations.

During this year’s event, the World Openness Report 2024 was released, featuring a Global Openness Index, which reinforces the message of openness and supports international collaboration in trade and investment.
