UK Market Entry Program Returns for Third Year During London Tech Week
UK Market Entry Program Returns
The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is set to launch its highly sought-after 2025 Global Growth Programme at a breakfast event held during London Tech Week on June 11, 2025. This marks the third consecutive year that this unique initiative will help international technology firms establish a foothold in the UK market.
In 2024, the programme achieved remarkable success by assisting 17 high-growth domestic and international companies, contributing to the creation of over 300 jobs in the West Midlands region. With 15 spots available for companies interested in the upcoming programme, the WMGC is inviting applications from eligible firms eager to tap into the thriving UK market.
The breakfast event, known as The West Midlands Breakfast Takeover, will take place at The Shard, a famous London landmark, and is organized in partnership with Warwick Business School. The session aims to showcase the region's exceptional innovation capabilities and the various opportunities available for fast-growing businesses.
The Global Growth Programme is a comprehensive nine-month support package that is fully funded for participants, offering them sponsored workspace at six innovation hubs located across Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Coventry. Additionally, companies can select from 20 specialized sector support packages tailored to four key domains: Health Tech, Clean Tech, Digital Tech, and Future Mobility. These packages are designed to optimize the success of market entry by facilitating access to commercial networks, research and development assets, and innovation centers throughout the region.
One of the programme's central goals is to streamline the process for international businesses seeking to invest in the UK. This includes assistance with market entry logistics, visa applications, and finding suitable accommodations. The initiative is supported by multiple partners focused on innovation, including Innovate UK, the Connected Places Catapult, and Midlands Innovation, among others.
The previous year's Global Growth Programme was made possible thanks to funding from partners like the Connected Places Catapult and Midlands Innovation's 'Invest in UK University R&D Midlands Campaign'.
As part of The West Midlands Breakfast Takeover event, attendees will hear from notable speakers, including Taras Matselyukh, the CEO of OPT/NET, a Netherlands-based company specializing in artificial intelligence solutions for critical infrastructure systems. Matselyukh will share his insights on participating in the Global Growth Programme and the advantages of establishing a presence in Birmingham.
Neil Rami, CEO of the West Midlands Growth Company, expressed his enthusiasm about the exceptional opportunities that the West Midlands holds for businesses. He stated that the region, with its flourishing tech sector and a wealth of talent, is perfectly positioned as an ideal environment for international companies focused on innovation. Over the last two years, the Global Growth Programme has operated as a successful model, providing critical support to dynamic international firms seeking to enhance their presence in the UK.
Taras Matselyukh added, “With Birmingham’s strong client pipeline and innovative R&D ecosystem, STEAMhouse emerged as the ideal location for our UK headquarters. Thanks to WMGC's assistance, we've formed valuable partnerships and solidified our position in the UK market while advancing our flagship product, OptOSS AI.”
This year, with only 15 spots available, interested businesses are encouraged to verify their eligibility and express their interest in joining the programme.
