Modon Holding Partners with IHC and TasHeel to Acquire Arena Events Group, Expanding Global Event Services

Modon Holding's Strategic Acquisition of Arena Events Group

On February 4, 2025, Modon Holding P.S.C, based in Abu Dhabi, made a significant move in the global events industry by entering into a definitive agreement with International Holding Company (IHC) and TasHeel Holding to acquire Theta Bidco Limited, the parent company of Arena Events Group Limited. Arena is recognized as a leader in providing large-scale temporary infrastructure and integrated event solutions on a global scale.

This acquisition is poised to enhance Modon's existing portfolio and broaden its capabilities in the events sector, which currently spans over ten countries, including key markets in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia. Arena Events Group has been instrumental in supporting numerous high-profile events, including critical infrastructure for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, Formula 1 races in cities such as Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Las Vegas, Miami, and Austin, and other prestigious events like Wimbledon and the annual Cinch Championships at Queen's Club in London. Notably, Arena played a key role in setting up a modular cricket stadium for the T20 World Cup held in New York.

The depth of Arena's experience is further demonstrated through its longstanding partnership with organizations such as the Professional Golfers' Association of America and LIV Golf, where it has provided comprehensive services for various championship tournaments annually.

The acquisition is particularly strategic for Modon as it seeks to expand its international exposure and diversification in the growing events market. H.E. Jassem Mohammed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Chairman of Modon Holding, stated, "Integrating Arena into our portfolio marks a pivotal achievement as we enhance our offerings in the global events industry. The expertise that Arena possesses as a leading service provider for premier events across North America, Europe, and Asia will significantly enrich Modon's capabilities and foster growth for our shareholders."

In similar sentiments, Bill O'Regan, Modon Holding's Group Chief Executive Officer, expressed enthusiasm about welcoming Arena to the Modon family. He noted that the acquisition not only introduces a wealth of industry experience and creative solutions but also complements Modon's existing event services. This strategy aligns with Modon's objectives of penetrating new markets and further amplifying the premium services it provides to clients.

Syed Basar Shueb, Chief Executive Officer of IHC, emphasized that this acquisition symbolizes a commitment to creating an integrated portfolio that enhances dynamic value networks. He added that Arena has flourished under IHC's guidance over the past three years, and that this transition to Modon will allow for the full realization of synergies in temporary infrastructure and event structures, which are increasingly sought after both locally and internationally.

The acquisition of Arena not only marks Modon's entry into the North American market—a region that has been a significant revenue generator for Arena—but also positions both companies to capitalize on a projected increase in global live event attendance. As event organizers increasingly prioritize high-quality viewing experiences and hospitality offerings, the combined strengths of Arena and Modon will enable both to maintain leadership positions in the events sector.

The transaction is expected to conclude by the first quarter of 2025, pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. With this move, Modon Holdings reinforces its dedication to growth and delivering exceptional value within the global events landscape.

As the events industry that thrives on experience continues to evolve, the acquisition of Arena Events Group by Modon Holding represents a significant leap towards a brighter and more impactful future in the world of events and entertainment.
