Exploring the Interplay of Design and Culture at FRAMA's Exhibition in Tokyo

Currently running at Vacant/Centre in Shibuya, Tokyo, is the exhibition titled "FRAMA VISITS VACANT," presented by the esteemed design studio FRAMA from Copenhagen, Denmark. This installation offers a distinctive experience, showcasing FRAMA's wide-ranging product line which includes furniture, lifestyle objects, self-care items, and fragrances.

The exhibition is structured to allow attendees to immerse themselves in FRAMA's products throughout the entire gallery space, marking a rare opportunity to interact with their furniture and other offerings that are not commonly accessible in Japan. All showcased furniture pieces are available for order, making this event particularly significant for those interested in unique design and craftsmanship.

During the exhibition, visitors can also explore a retail space within Vacant/Centre, which will feature not only FRAMA's products but also original creations from Vacant/Multiple and works from past exhibition artists. A notable aspect of this event is the simultaneous pop-up café "Apotek 57," located in the Kitchen space at Vacant/Centre, running from January 16 to 19. This café is hosted by head chef Chiara Barla and will serve signature dishes alongside coffee from La Cabra, enhancing the overall cultural and culinary experience of the exhibition.

This exhibition is part of an ongoing collaborative project between FRAMA and Vacant, which began with "VACANT VISITS FRAMA 'Unwrapped'" held in August 2025 at the FRAMA Studio Store in Copenhagen. It follows a series of creative collaborations that include lighting design for FRAMA's self-care section and uniform creation for the newly opened FRAMA Shibuya PARCO store.

The synergy between the craftsmanship steeped in Danish culture and Vacant's exploration of place-making concepts is a key theme of this exhibition. Visitors are encouraged to experience this unique intersection of design and culture, witnessing firsthand how spaces can cultivate new cultural interactions.
