Takuro Tamura's Exhibition 'Michi to Michi no Michi': A Journey into the Ordinary

Takuro Tamura's New Exhibition: 'Michi to Michi no Michi'

Starting December 27, 2025, the Gallery & Bakery Tokyo 8 minutes will unveil the latest solo exhibition from renowned artist Takuro Tamura, titled "Michi to Michi no Michi". This marks the 14th event held at this unique venue, which combines an art gallery with a bakery and café, enriching the cultural landscape of Kyobashi, Tokyo.

About the Artist

Born in Osaka in 1989, Takuro Tamura's artistic practice delves into the subtle discrepancies and discoveries found in everyday life. His works often incorporate motifs related to transportation and urban infrastructure, such as asphalt, road signs, and convex mirrors, extracting them from their usual contexts and functions to provide new meanings and presences. Through his sharp observation, technical skill, and a playful spirit, he reconstructs the familiar into something poetically and critically significant.

Tamura focuses on overlooked scenes and objects in our daily existence, highlighting the ambiguities and uncertainties that surround them. His creations encapsulate a quiet humor and romance, inviting viewers to explore the multifaceted nature of contemporary society while evoking sensations and memories tied to their own experiences.

Exhibition Overview

The exhibition will feature two series of works: rediymade (道), an exploration of flat artworks inspired by the essence of streets, and TORNCEPT (未知の道), which presents three-dimensional pieces reflecting the concept of the road. Attendees are encouraged to engage with Tamura's art and discover the hidden insights that emerge from everyday scenery.

Notable Past Works

  • - Lovers O-3220 (2021): A captivating piece measuring 316.0 cm x 120.0 cm x 67.0 cm, created using FRP, mortar, and mirror.
  • - Asphalt and Wooded Landscape (2022): An artwork that blends various materials, including asphalt and aluminum, sized at 168.6 cm x 206.7 cm x 4.0 cm.

Exhibition Statements

The rediymade series includes works that recreate actual roads while maintaining their original damage, dimensions, and materials. Through this, Tamura aims to bring to light the beauty and intrigue hidden in the mundane landscapes we often overlook.

In the TORNCEPT series, the focus shifts to the complexities of contemporary life. By transforming a straightforward one-way road sign into a more ambiguous object through tearing and twisting, Tamura challenges viewers to confront the uncertainties that lay ahead.
While these pieces were conceived separately, their commonality related to public roadways facilitates a cohesive thematic exhibition.
