Join the Tanabata Festival at Ariake Garden

Ariake Garden, managed by Sumitomo Realty & Management Co., is set to host a vibrant event in celebration of Tanabata, a traditional Japanese festival. This engaging event invites families, especially children, to participate in writing their wishes on colorful strips of paper, known as 'Tanzaku'. The event aims to provide a meaningful experience by allowing children to express their dreams and goals.

Event Details

The Tanabata Festival will take place from June 23 to July 7, 2025, at the second floor, in front of the information desk of Ariake Garden. The event is free of charge, and participants can write their wishes on tanzaku, which feature the five colors mentioned in the folk song 'Tanabata-sama', each carrying its own significance. However, make sure to arrive early as the tanzaku distribution will end once supplies run out each day.

Embracing Tradition

The Tanabata festival has deep cultural roots in Japan and is celebrated each year in July. According to tradition, two star deities, Orihime and Hikoboshi, are allowed to meet on this day after being separated by the Milky Way. The event encourages people to wish for love and success, making it a splendid occasion for families to bond over their hopes and aspirations.

Through this event, Ariake Garden aims not only to celebrate Tanabata but also to instill the importance of having dreams among the younger generation. Parents and children can enjoy creating messages together, enhancing the familial connection while respecting Japanese cultural heritage.
